My crazy idea to fix the Pacers

Trade TJ and Murphy WITH Granger! This will get us the most value and the best returns for the future. I wouldnt care if we traded for draft picks and young players. It would HELP our team IMMENSELY.

Just think about it for a minute. We suck with Granger, and we suck without him. We need to get the most value out of him now before sucking so bad injures him even more. Sure it has to be after he is healthy again, but we should be working a trade if we ever want to be good in the future.

Why trade our best player? Because we NEED the value. We are a team riddled with mediocrity. Never getting top draft picks is the reason. Just think we could probably net a couple first round picks and a PF we desperately need. Hopefully we loose enough games to get a lottery pick, a solid mid range first round pick, and a top pick in the second round. With guys like Rush Hibbert Hansboro and Price and D Jones, we are actually building towards a team that can compete!

I'm not crazy! I really think it would work! There is a ton of value we could gain from a trade and a team really may want to get into the 2011 FA market and make a move for it now, and you get Granger as the best sweetener ever. It's only a year and a half away. Fan support is at an all time low. It would not hurt the fan support trading Granger. The only supporters left are the dieharders, us. Several of us are about to walk away because of Ford and Murphy. I wouldnt walk away if we had to use Granger as bait to trade them because I believe in the Pacers first over any player.

Oh and of course you HAVE to fire O'Brien!

I am warming up to this idea, but who would we go after in this trade scenario?

First round draft picks! Hopefully we suck bad enough to get lottery picks the next couple of years. In this scenario we could draft 2 lottery picks, 2 other first rounders, and 2 top of the 2nd round picks to go along with Rush Hibbert Hansboro and maybe Price and D. Jones.

Price is looking like the best second round pick we ever made IMO.

I'd trade Granger before his knees blow out. There, I said it. Now I feel extremely condemned. I love Granger, but he's more of a good offensive weapon like Ben Gordon or a Gilbert Arenas than a game changer like Melo or Brandon Roy.
"I keep wondering the same thing. Last week they had the 4th worst record in the league, had an 11.9 percent chance of winning the lottery and were in line to land a franchise type player like Derrick Favors or DeMarcus Cousins. This week? They have a 1.7 percent chance of winning the lottery, have the 8th worst record and are in line to draft Cole Aldrich or Greg Monroe. Way to go Jim O'Brien. Rest Danny Granger the rest of the season (if it isn't too late) and give Josh McRoberts lots of minutes. That ought to do it." - Chad Ford on winning meaningless games

Way to go Jim, you may have just put our franchise back another 4+ years.

And who knows, maybe we suck, and we get a trade off with a team that sucks one or both of those years, and we get FOUR lottery picks and 2 top of the 2nds, and our caproom allows us to add a quality veteran FA that will want to join on with all this young talent and be the leader of the future.

In this best case scenario we could be competing for a title in three years.

I mean with the way he has to overcompensate for being the best player on a loosing team, he could be risking injury. He is having to do too much and play too hard. He has noone around him to keep teams from attacking him. He would benefit immensely on many other teams.

                Huh?
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me

Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

You don't just trade Danny for draft picks... you trade him if you get an elite player in return. The only way I see that happening is if we can land one of the really great players in the league while exorcising ourselves of TJ and Murph. Danny is just too good to give up on, unless it is a no brainer.

guys who I would consider, Horford from Atlanta, but not just him, another good player with him. Brandon Roy and Steve Blake, DWilliams, Chris Paul.. that calibre

If the Pacers could get an elite PG...or the perfect PF to fit next to Hibbert, that might be a good enough reason.

Well I blew it out of context. I said it blindly emphasizing that he seems to be the best PG we have right now.

Davis is obviously a great player, the other three, no.

                              Mo Williams and Illgauskas lol

Think of the open 3s Murphy would get from Lebron collapsing the defense and TJ and Granger couldnt dominate the ball like they do here because Lebron would punk them. The Cavs could probably win a title with Granger. Just like Jordan needed Pippen. You also add one of the top 5 fastest players with the ball in the league in Ford to go alongside Lebron as well. But obviosuly we would be getting low round draft picks but maybe we win the lottery and get a #1 2nd rounder.
