Re: Official 2010 NBA Draft Recruiting Center
idk why but this made me laugh extremely hard.
anyways. we know what dahntay and rush can bring to the table defensively, we just need a wingman other than granger that will be a part of the success formula and not named dunleavy. we still need a big to go along with hibbert and hans. and we still need a pg to go along with aj price. but i think one of those options will be available through a trade or sign in the offseason.
Willie Warren - theres alot of negativity on him. but i like what he can bring to a team like ours. number 1 hes built like a tank for his size. he doesnt have blazing speed, but he can get past people in a half court set at ease. from a standing position, he maybe the most explosive guy in this draft, has a derrick rose like shiftiness, without the speed.
Also, his numbers are like dwayne wades was when he went to the draft. and if you all can remember, the heat team that drafted wade was alot like ours.
Hes shown the ability to take over when he needs too. hes a good leader. he took the reigns of that team when griffin went down shortly for a game and a half his last season at OKU. and when they were losing to unc in the dance, he was the only one showing he wanted to win in that game and that includes griffin. he showed nba range, nba confidence. but ive seen him this year do something better than he could his freshman year and thats pass. if he can learn to facilitate and score at will like he has the ability to do, accordingly to our team needs i can see him being a cross between rodney stuckey and ben gordon. i wont put him on the dwade level. because he needs to show he can be more of a point for our team. he can pose a lot of matchup problems. hes bigger than a lot of pg's so he can back them down, and he can beat alot of 2's off the dribble.
Theres the obvious guys that would be great fits on this team like Favors, Monroe, Evan Turner, and even xavier henry. Larry Sanders looks like a phenom, an interesting product that could turn out to be a diamond in the rough.
Back to Xavier Henry...if anybody has seen this guy play...hes built like a tank. nobody has had a body like that at his age other than maybe lebron. but i think even lebron was a little thinner than that. but the guy plays with such composure. and he has really taken over that team and i think become the leader of it even with guys like aldrich, and collins on the team. The players seem to gravitate towards him and he really does anything he can do to make the team win. he rebounds, passes, shoots(with efficiency, and when needed) can go off the dribble and take it to the rack like a mad man. hes extremely mature for his age, both physically and as far as basketball IQ goes. has a freakish wingspan and strength for his size. an amazing rebounder at his position. idk when i watch the guy play, he just 'gets it'. hes got a great attitude and would be a great addition to this franchise.
other guys i like but wouldnt be in love with in the first round are brackins, wesley johnson, aminu, and patterson.
now for the 2nd round. we have 2 picks. now i hate saying the acronym "IMO", so im going to say in my opinion, these 2 picks in the 2nd round of the 2010 NBA draft are key to this teams turnaround. we need more guys like aj price who have had productive college careers rather than foreign projects that wont see the court even on the bench..siiighh...
anyways...
IF he falls there, Trevor Booker, can anyone say Charles Barkley? The guy is a man possessed. a monster down low. if he gets under the block, theres no stopping him before he gets fouled or slams it home. he just plays with brute strength. him and hans in at the same time would be intriguing. they went at it in the ACC.
Jerome Jordan would be an interesting pair with roy hibbert as a rotational 1-2 big punch. they could really feed off eachother. I like jordans upside as well, along with his impact on hibbert, id like to see him in a pacer jersey.
another guy who i absolutely love, who i think is flying under the radar, is Quincy Pondexter. the guy is the best pure scorer available in the 2nd round and would be a great scoring option off the bench and his rebounding abilities at the 3 alone allow him to be a great pick. but his offensive abilities off the bench would be a breath of fresh air.
raymar morgan is also a good option in the 2nd round as a defensive stopper with amazing athleticism. reminds me a lot of shannon brown.
