Detroit Trades Amir Johnson To Bucks

The Bucks have flipped Fabricio Oberto to the Pistons in exchange for Amir Johnson, according to a source.

Oberto was acquired by Milwaukee from San Antonio earlier on Wednesday.

RealGM Note: The move will save Detroit in their salary cap space pursuits, as Oberto's contract is non-guaranteed.

I really, really hate to see Amir go. He's going to break out in Milwaukee.

I hope Joe makes good use of the extra cap space. He wouldn't trade Amir for nothing unless he had a plan.

This seems as good a place as any...

Kstat, what is your optimal offseason for the Pistons?

Really interesting. Now does this mean they have a little more faith in Maxiell? I'm liking these trades I'm hearing so far.

Wow. Joe Dumars must have something up his sleeve if he is trading away a young guy as a salary dump.

Fabricio Oberto has a partially guaranteed salary. This means that if he is waived by July 1, teams only have to pay him 1.9 of his 3.8 million dollar contract. In other words, there is a strong chance that heโ€™ll either be traded or waived by July 1.
            Yahoo Update:

The Pistons plan to buy out Obertoโ€™s deal and make him a free agent. The San Antonio Spurs sent Oberto to the Bucks as part of a four-player trade for Richard Jefferson(notes) earlier on Tuesday.

Wow...Theres so much going on already. Dont teams normally wait for the draft before this many trades are made. I know the Wizard's trade was involving the 5th pick so it had to be done before the draft, but there was basically 3 trades already.

I'd like to get Joe Alexander from the Bucks.

I remember we were the only team to make a deal before the draft. The Raptors deal last year.

Yup thats true. Our deal was basically done but we had to wait for Ford because he was still in his BYC (from what I remember)...therefore the deal had to wait until July 1st to be "official"

Dead serious. I think he'd do well with us as a backup. He'd get a better role here than with Milwaukee.

Well at least this makes the Bucks look slightly less crazy for that trade from earlier today.

I like Amir Johnson and think he will be a good valuable player for them.

Kind of surprising, I believed the Pistons were very high on Amir.
