The Rules of Pacers Digest

Hello everyone,

Whether your are a long standing forum member or whether you have just registered today, it's a good idea to read and review the rules below so that you have a very good idea of what to expect when you come to Pacers Digest.

A quick note to new members: Your posts will not immediately show up when you make them. An administrator has to approve at least your first post before the forum software will later upgrade your account to the status of a fully-registered member. This usually happens within a couple of hours or so after your post(s) is/are approved, so you may need to be a little patient at first.

Why do we do this? So that it's more difficult for spammers (be they human or robot) to post, and so users who are banned cannot immediately re-register and start dousing people with verbal flames.

Below are the rules of Pacers Digest. After you have read them, you will have a very good sense of where we are coming from, what we expect, what we don't want to see, and how we react to things.

Rule #1

Pacers Digest is intended to be a place to discuss basketball without having to deal with the kinds of behaviors or attitudes that distract people from sticking with the discussion of the topics at hand. These unwanted distractions can come in many forms, and admittedly it can sometimes be tricky to pin down each and every kind that can rear its ugly head, but we feel that the following examples and explanations cover at least a good portion of that ground and should at least give people a pretty good idea of the kinds of things we actively discourage:

"Anyone who __________ is a liar / a fool / an idiot / a blind homer / has their head buried in the sand / a blind hater / doesn't know basketball / doesn't watch the games"

"People with intelligence will agree with me when I say that __________"

"Only stupid people think / believe / do ___________"

"I can't wait to hear something from PosterX when he/she sees that **insert a given incident or current event that will have probably upset or disappointed PosterX here**"

"He/she is just delusional"

"This thread is stupid / worthless / embarrassing"

"I'm going to take a moment to point and / laugh at PosterX / GroupOfPeopleY who thought / believed *insert though/belief here*"

"Remember when PosterX said OldCommentY that no longer looks good? "

In general, if a comment goes from purely on topic to something 'ad hominem' (personal jabs, personal shots, attacks, flames, however you want to call it, towards a person, or a group of people, or a given city/state/country of people), those are most likely going to be found intolerable.

We also dissuade passive aggressive behavior. This can be various things, but common examples include statements that are basically meant to imply someone is either stupid or otherwise incapable of holding a rational conversation. This can include (but is not limited to) laughing at someone's conclusions rather than offering an honest rebuttal, asking people what game they were watching, or another common problem is Poster X will say "that player isn't that bad" and then Poster Y will say something akin to "LOL you think that player is good". We're not going to tolerate those kinds of comments out of respect for the community at large and for the sake of trying to just have an honest conversation.

Now, does the above cover absolutely every single kind of distraction that is unwanted? Probably not, but you should by now have a good idea of the general types of things we will be discouraging. The above examples are meant to give you a good feel for / idea of what we're looking for. If something new or different than the above happens to come along and results in the same problem (that being, any other attitude or behavior that ultimately distracts from actually just discussing the topic at hand, or that is otherwise disrespectful to other posters), we can and we will take action to curb this as well, so please don't take this to mean that if you managed to technically avoid saying something exactly like one of the above examples that you are then somehow off the hook.

That all having been said, our goal is to do so in a generally kind and respectful way, and that doesn't mean the moment we see something we don't like that somebody is going to be suspended or banned, either. It just means that at the very least we will probably say something about it, quite possibly snipping out the distracting parts of the post in question while leaving alone the parts that are actually just discussing the topics, and in the event of a repeating or excessive problem, then we will start issuing infractions to try to further discourage further repeat problems, and if it just never seems to improve, then finally suspensions or bans will come into play. We would prefer it never went that far, and most of the time for most of our posters, it won't ever have to.

A slip up every once and a while is pretty normal, but, again, when it becomes repetitive or excessive, something will be done. Something occasional is probably going to be let go (within reason), but when it starts to become habitual or otherwise a pattern, odds are very good that we will step in.

There's always a small minority that like to push people's buttons and/or test their own boundaries with regards to the administrators, and in the case of someone acting like that, please be aware that this is not a court of law, but a private website run by people who are simply trying to do the right thing as they see it. If we feel that you are a special case that needs to be dealt with in an exceptional way because your behavior isn't explicitly mirroring one of our above examples of what we generally discourage, we can and we will take atypical action to prevent this from continuing if you are not cooperative with us.

Also please be aware that you will not be given a pass simply by claiming that you were 'only joking,' because quite honestly, when someone really is just joking, for one thing most people tend to pick up on the joke, including the person or group that is the target of the joke, and for another thing, in the event where an honest joke gets taken seriously and it upsets or angers someone, the person who is truly 'only joking' will quite commonly go out of his / her way to apologize and will try to mend fences. People who are dishonest about their statements being 'jokes' do not do so, and in turn that becomes a clear sign of what is really going on. It's nothing new.

In any case, quite frankly, the overall quality and health of the entire forum's community is more important than any one troublesome user will ever be, regardless of exactly how a problem is exhibiting itself, and if it comes down to us having to make a choice between you versus the greater health and happiness of the entire community, the community of this forum will win every time.

Lastly, there are also some posters, who are generally great contributors and do not otherwise cause any problems, who sometimes feel it's their place to provoke or to otherwise 'mess with' that small minority of people described in the last paragraph, and while we possibly might understand why you might feel you WANT to do something like that, the truth is we can't actually tolerate that kind of behavior from you any more than we can tolerate the behavior from them. So if we feel that you are trying to provoke those other posters into doing or saying something that will get themselves into trouble, then we will start to view you as a problem as well, because of the same reason as before: The overall health of the forum comes first, and trying to stir the pot with someone like that doesn't help, it just makes it worse. Some will simply disagree with this philosophy, but if so, then so be it because ultimately we have to do what we think is best so long as it's up to us.

If you see a problem that we haven't addressed, the best and most appropriate course for a forum member to take here is to look over to the left of the post in question. See underneath that poster's name, avatar, and other info, down where there's a little triangle with an exclamation point (!) in it? Click that. That allows you to report the post to the admins so we can definitely notice it and give it a look to see what we feel we should do about it. Beyond that, obviously it's human nature sometimes to want to speak up to the poster in question who has bothered you, but we would ask that you try to refrain from doing so because quite often what happens is two or more posters all start going back and forth about the original offending post, and suddenly the entire thread is off topic or otherwise derailed. So while the urge to police it yourself is understandable, it's best to just report it to us and let us handle it. Thank you!

All of the above is going to be subject to a case by case basis, but generally and broadly speaking, this should give everyone a pretty good idea of how things will typically / most often be handled.

Rule #2

If the actions of an administrator inspire you to make a comment, criticism, or express a concern about it, there is a wrong place and a couple of right places to do so.

The wrong place is to do so in the original thread in which the administrator took action. For example, if a post gets an infraction, or a post gets deleted, or a comment within a larger post gets clipped out, in a thread discussing Paul George, the wrong thing to do is to distract from the discussion of Paul George by adding your off topic thoughts on what the administrator did.

The right places to do so are:

A) Start a thread about the specific incident you want to talk about on the Feedback board. This way you are able to express yourself in an area that doesn't throw another thread off topic, and this way others can add their two cents as well if they wish, and additionally if there's something that needs to be said by the administrators, that is where they will respond to it.

B) Send a private message to the administrators, and they can respond to you that way.

If this is done the wrong way, those comments will be deleted, and if it's a repeating problem then it may also receive an infraction as well.

Rule #3

If a poster is bothering you, and an administrator has not or will not deal with that poster to the extent that you would prefer, you have a powerful tool at your disposal, one that has recently been upgraded and is now better than ever: The ability to ignore a user.

When you ignore a user, you will unfortunately still see some hints of their existence (nothing we can do about that), however, it does the following key things:

A) Any post they make will be completely invisible as you scroll through a thread.

B) The new addition to this feature: If someone QUOTES a user you are ignoring, you do not have to read who it was, or what that poster said, unless you go out of your way to click on a link to find out who it is and what they said.

To utilize this feature, from any page on Pacers Digest, scroll to the top of the page, look to the top right where it says 'Settings' and click that. From the settings page, look to the left side of the page where it says 'My Settings', and look down from there until you see 'Edit Ignore List' and click that. From here, it will say 'Add a Member to Your List...' Beneath that, click in the text box to the right of 'User Name', type in or copy & paste the username of the poster you are ignoring, and once their name is in the box, look over to the far right and click the 'Okay' button. All done!

Rule #4

Regarding infractions, currently they carry a value of one point each, and that point will expire in 31 days. If at any point a poster is carrying three points at the same time, that poster will be suspended until the oldest of the three points expires.

Rule #5

When you share or paste content or articles from another website, you must include the URL/link back to where you found it, who wrote it, and what website it's from. Said content will be removed if this doesn't happen.

An example:

If I copy and paste an article from the Indianapolis Star website, I would post something like this:

http://www.linktothearticlegoeshere.com/article
Title of the Article
Author's Name
Indianapolis Star

Rule #6

We cannot tolerate illegal videos on Pacers Digest. This means do not share any links to them, do not mention any websites that host them or link to them, do not describe how to find them in any way, and do not ask about them. Posts doing anything of the sort will be removed, the offenders will be contacted privately, and if the problem becomes habitual, you will be suspended, and if it still persists, you will probably be banned.

The legal means of watching or listening to NBA games are NBA League Pass Broadband (for US, or for International; both cost money) and NBA Audio League Pass (which is free). Look for them on NBA.com.

Rule #7

Provocative statements in a signature, or as an avatar, or as the 'tagline' beneath a poster's username (where it says 'Member' or 'Administrator' by default, if it is not altered) are an unwanted distraction that will more than likely be removed on sight. There can be shades of gray to this, but in general this could be something political or religious that is likely going to provoke or upset people, or otherwise something that is mean-spirited at the expense of a poster, a group of people, or a population.

It may or may not go without saying, but this goes for threads and posts as well, particularly when it's not made on the off-topic board (Market Square).

We do make exceptions if we feel the content is both innocuous and unlikely to cause social problems on the forum (such as wishing someone a Merry Christmas or a Happy Easter), and we also also make exceptions if such topics come up with regards to a sports figure (such as the Lance Stephenson situation bringing up discussions of domestic abuse and the law, or when Jason Collins came out as gay and how that lead to some discussion about gay rights).

However, once the discussion seems to be more/mostly about the political issues instead of the sports figure or his specific situation, the thread is usually closed.

Rule #8

We prefer self-restraint and/or modesty when making jokes or off topic comments in a sports discussion thread. They can be fun, but sometimes they derail or distract from a topic, and we don't want to see that happen. If we feel it is a problem, we will either delete or move those posts from the thread.

Rule #9

Generally speaking, we try to be a "PG-13" rated board, and we don't want to see sexual content or similarly suggestive content. Vulgarity is a more muddled issue, though again we prefer things to lean more towards "PG-13" than "R". If we feel things have gone too far, we will step in.

Rule #10

We like small signatures, not big signatures. The bigger the signature, the more likely it is an annoying or distracting signature.

Rule #11

Do not advertise anything without talking about it with the administrators first. This includes advertising with your signature, with your avatar, through private messaging, and/or by making a thread or post.

  • Re: Today in Pacer History

What's amazing is that no single Pacer scored 20 points that game.

Oh, and looking at that box score reminds me how their bench was the equivalent of a losing team's starting five. Awesome.

Today is February 28th, on this date in Pacer history......

The Pacers are 10-9 in games played on this date. However we've won 6 of the last 7 dating back to 1992.

      Happy Birthday

      Adrian Dantley 1956
Dantley was traded twice before he was even drafted. The first time was September 16th of 1974. Utah traded Dennis Awtrey, Nate Hawthorne, Curtis Perry & thier #1 in 76 (#6 Adrian Dantley) to Phoenix for Neal Walk & a 75 2nd round pick (#22-Clyde Mayes).

On May 29th of 75 Buffalo traded their 1st round pick in the 75 draft to Phoenix for a 76 #1, the pick that Utah had given them a year yearlier. The Suns selected Ricky Sobers at #16 in the 75 draft. The Braves took Dantley at #6 in the 76 NBA draft.

Dantley won rookie of the year in 76-77 while with the Braves but was traded along with Mike Bantom to Indiana for Billy Knight on September 1st of 1977

The 6-5, 210 Dantley played college ball at Notre Dame & was a Pacer for only 3 months & 12 days. Appearing in just 23 games AD averaged 26.5 points on .499 FG%, 9.4 rebounds, 2.8 assist, 2.1 steals, .7 blocks & 41.2 minutes a game. On December 13 of 77 Dantley & Dave Robisch were delt to the Lakers for James Edwards, Earl Tatum & cash.

The Lakers held onto Dantely thru the 78-79 season before dealing him to Utah for Spencer Haywood on September 13 of 1979. AD won the NBA scoring title in 81 & 84 while with Utah, in 81 he averages 30.1 in 84, 30.6. Dantley made the All Star team in 6 of the 7 years he was with the Jazz. His only miss between 1980 & 1986 was in 83 when he missed 60 games with torn ligaments in his wrist.

In August of 1986 the Jazz traded Dantley along with 2 2nd round draft picks, 1987 (#38-Norris Coleman) & 1990 (#49-Phil Henderson) to the Detroit Pistons for Kent Benson & Kelly Tripucka.

After 2 and a half seasons the Pistons traded Dantley & a 1991 1st round pick (#19-LaBradford Smith) to Dallas for Mark Aquirre on February 15th of 1989. Dantley remained with Dallas thru the 89-90 season before being waived on May 2nd of 1990.

The Bucks signed him in April of 91 where he played the final 10 games of his career.

Dantley won a gold medal in the 1976 Monteal games, was inducted into the Hall of Fame just last year & is currently an assistant with the Denver Nuggets.

      Duane Ferrell 1965
The 6-7, 215 Georgia State product was undrafted in the 3 rounds of the 1988 NBA draft. Between June 10th of 1988 & July 1st of 1993 the Atlanta Hawks signed Ferrell 4 times while waiving him 3.

On September 30th of 1994 the Pacers signed him as a free agent. In his 3 seasons with the Pacers, Ferrell played in a total of 172 games averaging 4.8 points & 1.9 boards in 13.4 minutes a game.

On August 12th of 97 Ferrell & Erick Dampier were traded to the Golden State Warriors for Chris Mullin. He played the 97-98 season with the Warriors & was traded to, of all places, Atlanta on June 29th of 1999. In that deal Golden State sent Ferrell, Bimbo Coles & their 1999 1st rounder, #10 Jason Terry to Atlanta for Mookie Blaylock & thier 1999 1st round pick, #21 Jeff Foster.

The Pacers aquired Foster the very next day in a draft day deal, but that another story.

The Hawks waived Ferrell on August 16th of 1999 but true to form they hired him back. It took awhile but on September 4th of 2008 he was hired as player relations and programs manager.

      Vincent Askew 1966
Askew was a 2nd round pick of Philadelphia in the 1987 NBA draft. The 76er's waived him after just 14 games of the 87-88 season.

He was signed & waived by Washington in the fall of 88.

In April of 91 Askew was signed by the Warriors to finish the rest of the 90-91 season as well as the 91-92.

On October 2nd of 92 he's signed by the Kings but only plays 9 games in Sacramento before being traded to Seattle for a 1993 2nd rounder (#52-Mike Peplowski).

Askew found a home in Seattle playing most of 92-93 plus an additional 3 full years. However he was once again traded. This time on July 16th of 96 to New Jersey for Greg Graham.

He didn't last long with the Nets. After playing in just 1 game New Jersey shipped him to Indiana on November 4th of 1996 for Reggie Williams. While a Pacer the 6-6, 235 Askew played in just 41 games, averaging 5.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.2 assist, 1 turnover & 20 minutes per game. On February 20th pf 97 Askew was traded to his 3rd team that season. This time he was traded along with Eddie Johnson, a 97 2nd round pick (#41-Jason Lawson) & a 98 2nd round pick (#54-Tremaine Fowlkes) to the Denver Nuggets for Mark Jackson & LaSalle Thompson,

He didn't have much success in Denver either, playing just 1 game the rest of the season, The Nuggets waived him on July 7th of 97.

He signed with Portland in September of 97 but was waived before the end of the season, March 24th of 98.

His failed attempts at playing overseas & coaching both here & in Europe are far to numberous to mention.

      Jamaal Tinsley 1978
Tinsley started out as a draft pick owned by the Lakers but was involved in a 4 team trade on September 20th of 2000, ending up with the New York Knicks.

On January 30th of 2001 the pick that would eventually turn out to yield Jamaal Tinsley was traded along with Erick Strickland & a 2001 2nd rounder (#47-Antonis Fotsis) from the Knicks to the Vancouver Grizzlies for Othello Harrington.

We're upto draft day June 27th 2001. First off the Grizzlies swing a deal with the Hawks. The Grizzlies are now in Memphis & they trade Shareef Abdur-Rahim & the rights to Jamaal Tinsley to Atlanta for Lorenzen Wright, Brevin Knight & the rights to Pau Gasol. This trade was made on draft night but could not become offical until July 19th.

Next Atlanta traded Tinsley's draft rights to the Pacers for a future 1st round draft pick. That pick was used by the Hawks in 2003 to select Boris Diaw at #21.

When it was all said & done it looks like we traded Boris Diaw for Jamaal Tinsley, try to sleep with that thought running thru your head tonight!

The 6-3, 195 Tinsley is currently in his 8th season with the Pacers. I think its safe to assume that he won't be adding to his stats here in Indiana so I can report that he's averaged 10.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 7 assist, 1.7 steals & 2.9 turnover on his 30.2 minutes played per game in his 398 game career, all with Indiana.

We're all painfully aware of all things Tinsley so I'll pass on re-hashing anything here.

      Josh McRoberts 1987
The 6-10, 240 Duke star was drafted by the Portland Trailbalzers in the 2nd round of the 2007 NBA draft. After playing in just 8 games his rookie season McRoberts was traded to the Pacers along with Jarrett Jack, the right to Brandon Rush & cash considerations for Ike Diogu & the draft right to Jerryd Bayless.

McRoberts has appeared in just 20 games this season, averaging 7.7 minutes he's putting up 2 points & 2.2 boards a game.

A couple notes on McRoberts. First, most know he was born here in Indianapolis & played high school ball for Carmel. But did you know that he also is the last Pacer to be born? If you listed all the Pacers by thier birth days & years, Josh would be the last on that list.

      Now, here's a twist.

That's all for today, but there's also more to tell.

Welcome to the Leap Year Report.

Its not February 29th this year but it has been in Pacer History & theres a few items to report.

The Pacers are 2-3 in games played on February 29th.

In 1976 they lost in New York 130-118

In 1992 they lost in Charlotte 121-119

In 1996 they beat Golden State at home 94-85

In 2000 they beat Detroit 115-105 at home

Just last season in 2008 they won in Toronto 122-111

That's truly it for today as well as not tomorrow, I'll see ya ..... Saturday!

Today is March 1st, on this date in Pacer history......

The Pacers are 7-7 in games played on this date.

        Donnie Walsh 1941
Walsh was born in New York City and played under both Frank McGuire and Dean Smith while attending North Carolina. The Philadelphia Warriors selected Walsh in the 11th round of the 1963 NBA draft but he was cut before the start of the season & never played in the NBA.

From there Walsh moved onto the coaching ranks. Assisting in several different programs including 12 seasons as an assistant to McGuire at South Carolina.

Walsh then moved onto the NBA as an assistant under Larry Brown with the Denver Nuggets. When Brown was fired 53 games into the 78-79 season, Walsh stepped up and went 19-10 the rest of the way. The following year the Nuggets went 30-52 then after starting the 80-81 season 11-20 Walsh was replaced by Doug Moe.

On June 12th of 1984 Walsh was hired as an assistant coach under George Irvine. After two seasons on the bench he was promoted to general manager on June 1st of 1986. Walsh remained in various front office positions until he re-signed on March 24th, 2008. Just over a week later he was named President of Basketball Operations for the New York Knicks.

        Travis Diener 1982
The 6-1, 175 Diener was involved in a trade between Toronto & Orlando on January 2nd, 2004. As part of the trade, Orlando was given the option to swap 2005, 2nd round picks. They did, the Magic moved from 41 to 38 & took Marquette's Diener, the Raptors selected Roko Ujic at #41.

Following 2 seasons with Orlando he was released by the Magic on July 11th, 2007. He was signed by the Pacers as a free agent on July 23rd of 07 & has remained with Indiana since. As a Pacer, Diener has played in 106 games, starting 21 during the 07-08 season. In 17.9 minutes a game he's averaging 5.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, 3.3 assist & .6 turnover as a Pacer.

        Transactions

On this date in 1975: The Pacers signed Roger Brown as a free agent after he was waived by the Utah Stars on January 30th, 1975. Welconme home Rajah!

On this date in 2008: Ronald "Flip" Murray was signed as a free agent after he was waived by the Detriot Pistons on February 22nd, 2008.

The Pacers are 10-12 in games played on this date, including the losses in the last 3 games.

No Birthdays, Transactions or Records to report today.

Time for another Pacers by the Numbers

Today we see who has worn the #9 jersey in Pacer History.

Mel Bennett: Bennett arrived via a trade with Philadelphia on November 2, 1976. The Pacers traded their #1 pick in the 1980 draft to get him. That pick turned out to be #8, Andrew Toney. To make matters worse, Bennett was traded on September 1st of 1978 to Denver for "future considerations"

Derrick McKey: McKey was also aquired by trade. The Pacers moved Detlef Schrempf to Seattle for McKey & Gerald Paddio on November 1st, 1993. McKey was a Pacer until just 2 days prior to the start of the 01-02 season. Offically being waived on October 28th, 2001.

Maceo Baston: Our third player was also optained by a trade, at least the 2nd time anyway. Baston was signed as a free agent on July 28th, 2006 & was here just a few days short of one year. He left Indiana for Toronto on July 19th of 2007. Baston joined my "Boomarang Club" on July 9th, 2008 when the Raptors returned him to the Pacers along with TJ Ford, Rasho Nesterovic & Roy Hibbert for Jermaine O'Neal & Nathan Jawai.

So, just the 3 players and all were involved in trades to get here.

That's it for today, see ya tomorrow!

Today is March 5th, on this date in Pacer history......

The Pacers are 13-11 in games played on this date.

                  Happy Birthday

                  Scott Skiles 1964
The 6-1, 190 Skiles was born in LaPorte Indiana & was a first round pick of the Milwaukee Bucks out of Michiagn State in the 1986 draft. After just a single season with Milwaukee, Skiles was traded to the Pacers on June 21 of 87 for a 1989 2nd round draft pick (#34 Gary Leonard).

In his two seasons as a Pacer, Skiles played in 131 games, averaging 5.9 points, 1.6 rebounds, 4.4 assist, 1.9 turnovers in 17.8 minutes a game.

On June 15th of 1989 the Orlando Magic selected Skiles in the expansion draft. On December 30th of 1990 in a 155-116 blowout of the Denver Nuggets, Skiles set the NBA record for assist in a game at 30. He would also win Most Improved Player for the 90-91 season. After 5 years in Orlando he was traded to Washington on July 29th 1994.

After the 94-95 season in Washington he signed on with Philadelphia on December 12th of 95. Just a few weeks later on January 5th of 96 Skiles retired as a player.

He has gone on to coach at Phoenix, Chiacgo & currently with Milkwaukee.

                  Reggie Williams 1964
Williams was the 4th overall pick in the 1987 draft by the Los Angeles Clippers. David Robinson was 1st, Armon Gilliam 2nd & Dennis Hopson 3rd. Others of note in that draft class were #4 Scottie Pippin, #5 Kenny Smith, #6 Kevin Johnson & #11 Reggie Miller.

Just 5 games into his 3rd season he was traded, along with the draft rights to Danny Ferry, to Cleveland for Ron Harper, a 1990 1st(#13-Loy Vaught), a 91 2nd (#38-Joe Wylie) and a 92 1st (#25-Elmore Spencer).

Williams was waived by the Cavs just a little more than 3 months later. The Spurs picked him up to finish the season in San Antonio. He also started the 90-91 season in San Antonio but was waived on Christmas Eve.

On January 5th of 91 Williams signed with Denver. After finishing the year with the Nuggets, Williams stayed with Denver thru the 94-95 season.

On June 13th of 96 Williams was traded along with Jalen Rose & a 1996 1st(#10-Erick Dampier) to Indiana for Mark Jackson, Ricky Pierce and a 1996 1st (#23-Efthimis Retzias). The 6-7, 195 Williams was only a Pacer for 2 games with totals of 5 points, 7 rebounds & 2 assist in 33 minutes. He was delt to New Jersey for Vincent Askew on November 4th of 96.

New Jersey would be William's last stop. He finished the 96-97 season, even began the 97-98 season as a Nets, but was waived on Decmber 17th of 97.

                  Sarunas Jasikevicius 1976
Jasikevicius is listed as 6-4, 197 & played college ball at Maryland. He was signed as a free agent on July 25th and during his season and a half with Indiana he played in 112 games, averaging 7.3 points, 1.8 rebounds, 3 assist 1.6 turnovers & 19.8 minutes a game.

Jasikevicius was traded to Golden State on January 17th, 2007 along with Stephen Jackson, Al Harrington & John Powell in exchange for Mike Dunleavy Jr., Troy Murphy, Ike Diogu & Keith McLeod.

He remained with the Warriora the rest of the 06-07 season before being waived on September 20, 2007.

He is currently playing for Panathinaikos in Greece as well as the Lithuanian national team.

That's it for today, see ya tomorrow!

The Pacers are 9-11 in games played on this date. Odd its almost a mirroe image. They started out with 4 straight wins then followed with a single loss and another win. The past 6 games have been just the opposite, the last 4 have been defeats with the one prior a win, then just before that, a loss.

Time for an update from My Old School

Heres the list of colleges that have supplied the Pacers with the most players

                    1. Indiana ------- 10
                    2. UCLA ---------- 7
                    3. Georgia Tech -- 6
                    3. Michigan ------ 6
                    5. Arizona State -- 5
                    5. Kentucky ------ 5
                    5. North Carolina -- 5
                    5. Notre Dame ---- 5
                    5. Purdue --------- 5
                    5. St. John's ------ 5
                    11. BYU ----------- 4
                    11. Dayton -------- 4

Next on our list are players

                    John Duran
                    Bill Martin
                    Reggie Williams
                    Roy Hibbert

                    Yep, you guess it... Georgetown

The Pacers are 11-14 in games played on this date.

We have another one of those dates where nothing happened.

So, I'm going to dig deep into the endless bag of Pacer Trivia & pull out something from the very bottom.

I've already mentioned the heavy weights in Pacer history so lets look at the light weights.

These are the Pacers that have weighed 170 lbs or less.

                      At 170 lbs.

                      Johnny Davis
                      Byron Dinkins
                      Ricky Green
                      Willie Smith

                      At 165 lbs.

                      TJ Ford
                      Wayne Pack

                      At 152 lbs

                      Tyus Edney

I know this may be breaking with the format you are wanting to do and if you don't want to that's cool.

But do you know what the Pacers overall w/l record is for franchise history? Actually I'm sure you do know this, but would you care to share?

Also while I'm putting in request in the future when you have dead down time and are looking to fill the void if you could do a top 10 list for Pacers career stats (points, rebounds, blocks, assist, etc., etc.)

This is the fist thread I read every day btw.

1725-1675...12th best among all active franchises...the Lakers .617 is the best, while the Griz' .325 is the worst...there are 15 franchises at or above .500 (with the Knicks & the Pistons @ .500), and 15 below.

What's the open hand thread you read everyday?

I use my fingers to count. It's the only counting I do.

Thanks Count, I hadn't done the overall won - loss record yet but it was something I was going to get to at the end of the regular season.

I can do better than top 10.

I have an excel spread sheet that list every player in something like 30 different catagories.

I'll have these completed with the 08-09 numbers shortly after the season has ended. I also have Pacer & opponent stats from season 1.

                                Bobby Joe Edmonds 1941
Edmonds at 6-7, 225 from Tennessee A&I was a 6th round draft pick of Washington in the 1964 NBA draft. Never making an NBA roster, Edmonds was one of the original signees of the ABA Pacers in September of 1967.

During the first season of Pacer basketball Edmonds played in 72 of the 78 games we played. In 18.6 minutes a game he averaged 8.0 points, 5.2 boards, .4 assist & 1.7 turnovers. After setting out the 68-69 season Edmonds returned for just 3 games during the 69-70 campaign.

The only other info I could find was his date of death: November 12th, 1991, at age 50.
