    Granger extended! - 5 years/$60-64 million

According to the article in the RSS Feed above, ESPN states the League Office is expecting an extension for Granger before the deadline tonight.

And if I could provide a link, I would.

I would rather be the hammer than the nail

then: adverb - at that time; at the time in question

Granger agrees to five-year extension with Pacers

Danny Granger won't have to test the free agent market next summer.

The Pacers and Granger agreed this evening to a five-year extension between $60 million and $64 million. Granger’s extension will start next season.

“I think it’s great for Danny and the Pacers,” Granger’s agent, Mark Bartelstein said. “I think (president) Larry Bird and (general manager) David Morway and (owner) Herb Simon did a terrific job in being proactive here. There were a lot of long conversations with David, Larry, myself and my associate Aaron Mintz.

“You have a great emerging player. I think the Pacers are trying to rebuild the franchise and I think to let Danny get into restricted free agency when you never know what could happen, I think it was a terrific move on their part to get Danny locked up. It shows how much he means to them.”

If an extension was not reached today, Granger would have become a restricted free agent at the end of the year, meaning the Pacers would have been able to match any offer he received from another team.

Granger, now in his fourth season in the NBA, was the Pacers leading scorer last year at 19.6 points per game. He also averaged 6.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and shot 40 percent from 3-point range.

Granger scored 33 points in the Pacers’ 100-94 season-opening loss at Detroit on Wednesday.

The Pacers play their home opener at 7 p.m. Saturday in Conseco Fieldhouse against defending NBA champion Boston Celtics.

Indy Star actually says between 60 and 64.

          5 years / 60-64 million isn't bad.

I think the Pacers dodged a bullet because they would have likely had to pay more if he became a RFA. At least we don't have to worry about losing Granger every time he has a 30 pt game lol

              That's about what I expected.

Now let's beat the Celtics tomorrow.

              Go Pacers!

I had guessed 5/65, so this is right around what I expected. Definitely fair market value at this point in time.

The bar was set when Deng, Iggy, Martin and others signed their deals. With that said, this was about what everyone was predicting dollar wise. My guess is that there may be some incentives built in as well.

I'm glad that this is done and Danny and the Pacers can worry about putting up some W's.

That's awesome, not a bad price tag for our next All Star

Congratulations Granger and Pacers Management for getting it done

That's actually a nice price tag. I thought it would be closer to $70.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

uld we be willing to pay Danny?
If he maintains that he will drive and not get lost atthe three point line, I say 5/65. Listen Iggy got a deal that was absurd and no way obtainable in this market.

                            Josh Smith 5/58 11.6 average
Luol Deng 5/70.8 (what was his last year salary) 14.1

I see Danny somewhere in the median of those two contracts.

                            71+58=129

                            129/2= 64.5

                            Just tooting my horn.

why extend Jack right now? He hasn't done anything yet, so i'm thinking we need to just wait until this offseason.
