From what I understand (which normally isn’t much), I believe we are $15 million under the salary floor. If I’m correct, we’re going to need to add salary

heres a trade proposal that will take care of that. We trade Duarte and Smith Jr for Kuminga, Poole and Moody
"So, which one of you guys is going to come in second?" - Larry Bird before the 3 point contest. He won.

Not that I am advocating for it, but a very Pacers move would be to hit the salary floor bringing back Hill on a 2 year contract, possibly with a team option for the second year. They'd probably also give Oshae a 2-3 year deal that would get marketed as tradable. This route does leave flexibility for the following year, if there's reason to think there'll be better options then. Which, there very well could be, the options this year look pretty poor from a free agent stand point.

There is the possibility of taking on salary from a trade, too, though so far no one has suggested anyone I'd be excited about with that method, either.

We need to add salary and we have no empty roster spots to add players, so if we have a guy in free agency that we covet, we’ll need to cut a player or players, or do a 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 trade to open up some spots.

We definitely need to get above the salary floor there are huge financial penalties in the new c b a if you are below the floor. That's sad I don't want to do it by taking taking on Pooles contract. Moody does not impress me it's not worth that. I don't think the Warriors would do this either.
Why do teams tank? Ask a Spurs fan.

I had posted this in the trade proposal page. Unfortunately there isn't that many decent players coming out in free agency next year. I would rather take on a bad contract, get rid of multiple players and keep the 5 picks and play young again. Unless something falls in their lap that they can't refuse.

Just wanted to see what people are finding on the dark web for trades proposals as the draft approaches. If I heard correctly the Pacers have to take on another 16 million in salary just to get to the floor.

I just read a trade proposal with the Bucks. From a Bucks website.
            Pacers receive: Chris Middleton

Bucks receive : Buddy, Duarte, TJM.

Middleton is owed 40+ million this year. He is hurt a lot. So the trade would basically be a rental to free up money for next year and to unload some of the guards we have. If the Pacers are going in a win now mode. There are worse trades out there.

I mentioned this before, and I would be less likely to advocate for it than I was for Turner, but the Pacers could do a renegotiation+extension with Hield to help get them to the floor and potentially get Hield at lower values for the next couple of years. That's not an option I love, but it's a distinct possibility.od they don't find anything during the summer for that salary.

Not a fan of Middleton due to his injuries

I see this as we don't have roster spots open unless we trade some picks

Oh I understand, and it's not for a core piece. He would be moving on after one year, freeing up a boat load of money the Pacers are going to need for Haliburton. The move is more for freeing up space for the younger players. Just an option if needed.

                      poole and Kuminga?
Pass. Poole is nothing more than a 6th Man ( at best ) with low BBIQ and is paid like a high end Starter.

Hachi is high character, fills a need at the four which we’ve needed for years, still is young and improving. Plus if we can unload Buddy and TJ’s contracts signing Hachi won’t hurt at all.
I don’t view Hachimuira as anything more than a bench player. I’d rather spend money on a Starting Quality Player and then draft and develop a cheaper and younger player.

I don’t see any free agents that interest me.

We should build through the draft and make trades.

It doesn't matter, it's irrelevant, we won't be better than we were this year.
I am 100% sure we are on the fast track to worst team in the league and not because of Pritchard, he and the scouting department have proven last draft they can hit homeruns if you let them do their job.

And what do we (Pacers) do after 1 successful draft?

we get Leisure Suit Larry back "in the fold", because he did not enough damage on his first go!
We are talking about the "man" who is responsible for a LARGE number of conflicts with players, causing ruin to this franchise, and his drafting record is of the worst level ever seen in NBA history (and probably ABA too)

I appreciate the hopeful posts and rhetoric, but I foresee problems of biblical proportions in our future.
