"Trade talk involving Artest is heating up" - Sac Bee

    Any takers?

Denver (for Nene) is the only team mentioned that has had recent negotiations with Kings GM Geoff Petrie, but it looks like they are about to be shopping our TruWarier more actively. Nothing active on the Heat or Knick talks apparently either. But this was the state of things according to Amick.
"Perhaps knowing that making one public statement is easier than making 29 phone calls to each of the league's general managers, Petrie made it clear that the player known as the one of the best two-way talents in the game is as available as ever if the deal is right."

Well if he is "one of the best two-way talents in the game" then why in
Heaven's name would Petrie be trying to move him??? It just doesn't make
    any sense.

And just what does it mean when he refers to Artest as a "two-way" talent?

The answer is contained within the same article:

"Artest has been on an erratic spell of late, with his public displays including the on-floor tirade at coach Reggie Theus while playing Detroit on Jan. 18 and his bizarre antics at Utah on Friday that led to his ejection after two technicals. Privately, sources close to the team said he has exploded at Theus numerous times in recent weeks while growing frustrated with the season and the first-year coach. When asked if Artest's recent behavior increased his desire to move Artest, Petrie said, "Not really. No, I don't really think so. I really don't. I know he started to lose it in that Utah game a little bit, but he was fine in Seattle and (Wednesday night). He's volatile.""

Unfortunately, it's looking like COUNTDOWN TO RONNIE in T-Minus 5-4-3-2....

I admittedly started a thread saying I wouldn't mind having Ronnie back, but when I look at that statement from the Sacto Bee, it's sadly apparent that Ronnie is just Ronnie, and will ultimately wind up doing things to sabotage himself.

That's what I was saying before about Artest and his antics against the Jazz.....the guy is a distraction for the rest of the team. With all this and his confrontation with Theus......a guy that FO backs.....Artest is as good as gone.

Although the Knicks would be an obvious choice of where he goes.....my guess is that he will go to some borderline Playoff team for a quick rental and then bolt for the Knicks in the offseason. There is no reason to add him now at a cost of Players when they can add him later at no extra cost ( other then a contract ) later.

He says he wants to go to NY.

So why would NY trade for him and why would any other team trade for him?

He'll opt out. See if NY can sign him to the exception or a S&T with Sac, which the latter will probably be the case.

NY will sign him for ~$12 mil and could send Randolph and Rose or Marbury to Sac and take on Kenny Thomas' contract as well.

maybe but we've always said ron should just be traded at the deadline each season. one full calendar year (with a summer break) on the same team is about the exp. date on ron-ron. he's exp and it'd clear quite a bit off our cap. he wouldn't even have to join our team. we'd just give him his buy-out and send him along........

regardless it isn't going to happen so there is no reason to worry.

if he went to denver for nene, that would be one hugely volatile and talented lineup.

I've said for along time, maybe the trade we need to make is Ron for JO.

Wouldn't that be ironic, with JO's infamous "him or me" speech.

                    Don't forget JR Smith!

Ron might go artest and break the rest of KMart.

Maybe we could send them Tinsley and they could call their arena the Arkham Asylum?

I think Pat Riley is tanking the Heat. He's always wheeling and dealing, and now he's not doing anything to make the heat better. (Just another way of tanking)

With the Heat's top five draft position he'll pick up a difference maker in the draft and be good to go next year.

Yes, I read the article before posting, and was facetiously poking fun at Sacramento.

Poor suckers, oops, I mean uh, Kings.

Ron already buried our franchise. Now we want to bring him back to **** on the tombstone?

If you have any doubts about whether Ron has changed or not, just watch the recent Detroit and Utah games. Dude is completely off his nut. Again.
