Would you rather have a guaranteed $10K to do absolutely nothing or make a layup with your non-dominant hand for $1 million?

You get one chance to make the layup.

And I donโ€™t want a bunch of clarifying questions like how greasy are my hands or if you can use a ladder. One chance to make a layup on a 10-foot rim with a regulation-size ball with your non-dominant hand.

    Which do you choose?

Easy answer: Go big or go home.

I'm cross dominant. I'm right handed, but do a few things left handed (left handed drum kit setup, archery, left handed jumpshot, a few other things here and there). Which hand am I shooting with?

Actually, it doesn't matter, I'd go for the million either way.

what about if a three pointer for $10M is an option too (normal hand)?

        i'd take the $1M off-hand layup i think

Oddly enough, I have a better right-handed hook than a nice scoop layup. I'd still take the layup easily though and do a more fundamental boring layup with the right. I am a right handed dominant ball handler, so have decent control when the hand is over the ball.

I know you didnt want clarifying questions but I gotta ask about the layup. Do I have to approach the basket with a dribble and smooth layup or are you asking for a bunny shot standing right by the goal with my left hand. That's the $990,000 question.

Yea I'm still taking the off-hand layup at 99.99% odds, even though the expected value on the 3 ball is higher.

just the pressure has to knock down those odds way below 99.99%

Being as I am not young any more, my arthritic hands prevent me from gripping and handling the ball properly. Unless I put in lots of practice beforehand to get the feel for it, would likely miss. 10K to just sit back and say thank you would be fine with me.

I feel like the values are off here. With no pressure I'm making 99/100 layups with either hand.

10k is not life changing money, a million is. I might choke under the pressure and somehow blow the layup, but I 100% have to go for it.

I think you either have to increase the amount of free money or significantly increase the difficulty of the shot (at least making a 3 pointer or something).

If you give me 350k for free, or a million for a layup, I have to really think about it.

If you give me 100k for free, or a million to hit a three, I'm going to have to think about that one too.

Hm, at what point do I think Dal's right and the risk of me choking the gimme is not worth it. Definitely at least 100k.

I don't think my uncontested NBA 3 is any better than like 30%, at that point I'm probably taking money.

Yeah my uncontested three sways between 5% and 50% in a matter of a few minutes lol. When the feeling is there, lights out. When it's not, might as well nicely roll the ball out of bounds. I'm taking free money over a 3-pointer with pressure tbh
