Thank you Goga. You will be remembered for the "sit the **** down" incident. What a bust you were

Goga cleared waivers, nobody claimed him at his salary. We’ll see if anybody wants him at the minimum.Comment

If you ever wonder why the Indiana Pacers are in the shape that they are in right now let me present the following. This is the list of draft picks and where they are now since Kevin Pritchard has assumed control.
2017
T.J. Leaf playing in China
Ike Anigbogu out of basketball
2018
Aaron Holiday playing in Atlanta his 4th team not in rotation and avg. career lows
Alize Johnson currently playing in the G league (on his 10th team)
2019
Goga Bitadze waived by Pacers currently not playing basketball
No second round pick
2020
No first round pick
Cassius Stanley Currently playing in G-league
2021
Chris Duarte bench rotational player for Pacers
Isaiah Jackson bench player who sometimes is rotational depending on Carlisle mood
Then there is this year.
So as you can see we had 4 straight years of absolute catastrophically bad draft picks and even at year 5 you would hope that your 13th pick would be a little better than just a rotational player but admittedly there is still time to go one way or the other there.
But I can not emphasize enough that the Leaf pick set this franchise back 4-5 years.

The Goga pick was so stupid since the beginning because Pacers already had the “twin towers” bs.
And the Duarte pick was ridiculous, getting a win now player for what?@WhatTheFFacts: Studies show that sarcasm enhances the ability of the human mind to solve complex problems!Comment

There are only 2 reasons as to why I think that the Mathurin pick was different compared to years before. It was because it was a top 6 pick ( which significantly increases the odds of a Team picking the right Player to draft when compared to a Late Lottery pick ) AND ( most importantly ) Carlisle likely providing significant input on who to draft.
I'm going to give 80% of the credit to Carlisle picking a Player out of the draft that was at least solid enough to be considered a very good pick by the Pacers. Of course; there are a lot of very solid Players that could have been drafted that came after Mathurin, like Dyson Daniels, Sharpe or even Sochan. Meaning that KP could have somehow lucked into picking one of those Players. But I would also argue that there was a greater chance that KP ( without the input of Carlisle ) could have drafted some garbage Player like Johnny Davis to continue his track record for drafting mediocre Players.
My hope is that Carlisle has a huge hand in helping to pick the Pacers next draft pick. Given how how it could be, this Player HAS TO BE a cornerstone Player that doesn't crap out like KP's previous picks.Last edited by CableKC; 02-13-2023, 01:33 AM.Ash from Army of Darkness: Good...Bad...I'm the guy with the gun.Comment

I have said time and time again. I have very little faith in KP and the Pacers Scouting Department to draft a halfway decent Player. Even if the Pacers were able to pick 2 Players out of those 4 drafts that turned out to be reliable and solid backup Players, it would have made a difference in how this Team built the roster. But nope, this team rolled "Snake Eyes" on all 4 drafts where NONE of them panned out. I know that the Draft is often a crap shoot. But if you can't draft at least 1 or 2 solid long term backup Players in the late lottery, your Scouting Department and GM sucks.
