Probably some amalgamation of all the reasons stated above is the true explanation for why Andrew is getting more playing time than Benn, but the primary factor is Buddy. Drew can handle the ball and play defense, providing a different skill set than both Buddy and Benn. Buddy and Benn is where the overlap is because their primary role is to score the ball (albeit in mostly different ways). Include Duarte in that redundancy, by the way.

I, too, hope that Theis is being featured to be included in a deal next week but that's probably not what they're doing. We're probably going to go all in for a play-in spot. Is what it is, unfortunately.

Yโ€™all arguing against Nembhard need to count how many deflections he gets in any given game. Heโ€™s not a stat stuffer but he does make a lot of plays that contribute to winning even if he makes a typical rookie play too now and then.

I thought the game was fairly ugly, but it was still fun to watch. Turner and Sabonis didn't play enough minutes against each other, but Turner was clearly a good match for Domas in this one. You could absolutely tell they were both anticipating the other's moves. I felt Rick was really trying to throw this one leaving that bench unit in so long without much change. The Kings were stomping on that unit at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Before the season started I was hoping to have a development season and to see a frontcourt rotation of Goga, IJax and Smith. Now all the minutes go to Myles and Theis. Not sure what to think about that...

Not arguing against him. Arguing against lesser playing time for Mathurin
"We've got to be very clear about this. We don't want our players hanging around with murderers," said Larry Bird, Pacers president.

The NBAโ€™s Apex Post Player got outscored, outrebounded and outblocked head-to-head against Myles. Not to mention he also got his *** bullied out of the lane by Turner on multiple occasions and got his *** boxed out to the ground by Turner on the last rebound.

Carlisle said the Kings wouldโ€™ve kicked our *** it it was a ballet, but a slugfest is more of our kind of game.

The irony that โ€œSoftnerโ€ has been a boob misspelling this entire time is not lost on me .

Nice to see a gritty win after a long drought. Short of an unexpected move next week I think this team gets back their late December, early January groove pretty quickly.

Huerter looks like one of the best value vs. talent off season pick ups in the NBA. Much more than just a floor spacer on offense and a better defender than given credit.

Not the pick-up you want this off season but Harrison Barnes would fit really well with this Pacers group in a couple seasons if/when the Kings move off of him for Murray.

For the second straight nite the Pacers played a well contested game decided in the last seconds. This team is a joy to watch. It was really interesting to see Domas and Myles after the game. Their mutual respect was evident. I was happy to see Mathurin get back into the flow of the game. I wonder if the Pacers are showcasing Theis for a trade. Time will tell. Haliburton makes a big difference in this team, very glad to see him back. I was expecting Smith to become a good Power Forward. I was wrong. Perhaps we can get one in next year's draft. I'm also unhappy that Duarte is struggling so much. My lovely wife and I will be there Sunday to see the Pacers beat the Cavs. Go Pacers!
                        Go Pacers!

I get a kick out of the stat guys going back and forth and arguing the stats given to them based on what their eyes are telling them. So then they go out and find some stats that match their eye test.

The problem with that is you will always see what you want to see. You'll see a missed shot and your brain will remember it as if every shot was missed. You'll see a blockout and your mind will skip over it in favor of remembering the rebound was gotten by someone else (or you'll be watching the ball and not see the blockout at all.)

Hell of a lot of folks with eye tests saying one team is better than another when the score (a stat) shows otherwise.

If your eye test says one thing and the basic stats say something else then there's something wrong there. A one time mismatch might be a fluke, but when you have to dismiss the stats every time without being able to give a reason why they don't reflect reality then you are just confirming your own biases.

Or throw in a first-round pick and flip it for a max-level point guard...

As BillS stated, eye tests are prone to huge errors as well. A player does thousands of things over the course of a year. Every player who plays starter minutes has hundreds of good plays and hundreds of bad plays over the course of a season. It's impossible to remember them all to figure out the ratio, so your brain takes shortcuts. Those shortcuts start to not take an honest look at the whole, but rather start to look for what it wants to find.

If you really want to have a great evaluation of a player, you should either have an eye test that checks the stats regularly to correct for obvious errors. Or you can start with the stats but then go to the tape to add the context that the stats cannot give you. If you throw out either one, you're just not going to be as accurate.
