Pacers Harrison questions NBA drug policy

Indiana Pacers center David Harrison wasn't happy with his five-game suspension for violating the NBA's drug policy. Harrison had three positive tests for marijuana and was sent home from the team's Western trip two weeks ago.
"There's the politically correct thing to say, there's the basketball player thing to say and there's what I really want to say," Harrison said. "I don't understand how they have a right to look into our lives on any level besides performance-enhancing drugs. It's not a rule made by government and it's not a rule made by God; it's made by an organization (the NBA). I guess they feel it will benefit that organization."

Maybe the weed has something to do with it?

Silly me, though, I thought that marijuana was illegal in the United States.

That is so stupid on so many different angles.

He is a member of the NBA and if they decide they want to test for something, and the players association agrees - they can test for it - it has nothing to do with God or the gov't

According to this line of thinking marijuana is legal in the United States...which is news to me. We're a more progressive nation than I thought!

But seriously, this guy makes recreational potheads like myself look bad. Even I know that this is a flawed line of reasoning.

I'm betting he might not play again for the pacers, even if Obie says he will.

Didn't he just play yesterday, or am I high as well?

Beyond Tinsley's stupidity, beyond Jackson's stupidity, beyond Artest's stupidity we have David Harrison. He has got to be the ABSOLUTE DUMBEST player to put on a Pacers uniform since Reggie Harding.

                    He'll keep playing.

But he is certainly stupid. Extremely.

But what should we expect from a guy who fouls four times in a minute and keeps blaming the ref?

He did and I don't know.

I, again, had hope, when he supposedly said he needed to "grow up" or he'd be out of the NBA, which was exactly a quote of my post the day before and many others here.

Then he says something like this, I fear the kid will have to have something major happen before he understands things. I'm done having hope for him, though. He's an expiring contract to me.

Oh dear. Here we go. Perfect example here; sometimes your brain goes to trash when marijuana is involved, he was probably on something when he said this. Ha.

I vaguely remember an article talking about him in college and how he drove up to the student center, pulled on the lawn, double parked, walks in for awhile and later comes out and doesn't get in trouble by the campus police and knows he won't. Acts all "do you know who I am" ish. I mean there is alot more detail to the story, but seems like a good example of the attitude and the enablers, imo.

A guy with his athleticism who drops to the last pick in the first, you know there is something there. He had the chance to prove it wrong.

I guess my biggest fear is he plays like an animal the last 3 months and someone will sign him, I just hope to God its not the Pacers.

It is very obvious that DH doesn't get it, and that is too bad, because on court you see flashes of what he could become. At this point he seems to be regressing. I doubt very highly that he will be apart of this team next season or maybe even this year.

24 teams passed on him the first time around. After this, I'll bet it'll be 30.

I'm figuring someone will take a chance and overpay... they always do for a big... and Pacers will wisely come up with the "we can't match that" excuse.... (because there's not that much weed in Indy).
