There will be 5 or more players taken after the 25th pick that end up significantly better than our lotto pick Duarte.
Which is even less motivation for us to tank. With this many talented prospects all over boards, the guy we take at 12 could very well be there at 15.

Or not, the higher we are the better.

I feel like weโ€™re told every year that the next draft is loaded, possibly best class ever, etc etc

          Nobody said that last year.

Nope. Or the year before. Looks unlikely we will be saying it about 2024 either.

The differnce between best case scenario and worst case scenario for tanking is something like picking 12th or picking 16th.

There literally is not a significant difference in hit rate between those two picks.

In other words, it doesn't matter. We aren't getting a top ten pick, much less a top 3 pick. We gain nothing by losing games at this point.

              Let this go.
I'm not saying an opinion on what the Pacers should do, but that's way too narrow of a range for their possibilities.

Currently they are #18. They are 1 game out of the #22 pick right now. On the other side, they are 4 games up on the #7 pick.

With half the season left, that's a more realistic range of best case/worst case scenario. Somewhere between 7 and 22.

There is a reason we wanted a top five pick last year we knew some dumb team was going to pick the skinny guy leaving a nice player for Pacers to pick.

This year we need a top ten pick and we good.

And look at the Kings last year. They jumped all the way up to 4. Don't think the worst team has ever picked 1st in the lotto era. Just a chance at the Wemby and Scoot franchise changing opportunity would be fun to dream about.

Things are looking good for the tank, here are next ten games without Hali:

                        Vs Bucks L

                        Vs Thunder L

                        Vs Nuggets L

                        Vs Suns L

                        Vs Chicago L

                        Vs Orlando W
                        Vs Bucks L

                        Vs Memphis L

                        Vs Lakers L

                        Vs Sacramento L

Schedule is still rough after that.

Yeah, there's a lot of parity in the league this year. We're never going to be able to compete with the tankers for the worst record (we never really had this opportunity to begin with, our young guys are too good) but a bottom 10 record is quite possible.

Hopefully we can at least beat the lakers, because well, lakers.
Peck is basically omniscient when it comes to understanding how the minds of Herb Simon and Kevin Pritchard work. I was a fool to ever question him and now feel deep shame for not understanding that this team believes in continuity above talent.

Knicks won and are creating some separation now, 2 games separation to be exact.
