I feel like it was just earlier this year there was some big uncoordinated goon who injured Haliburton back then too, but he was only out one game I think.

anyone besides Dal9 wants to talk about Goga Play and how he went from 3 minutes in the 2nd to 12 in the 4th?
The likelihood that he will not see playing time again for weeks on end?

      Some of my observations;

he has very good hands, on defense he interrupted multiple passes and dislodged the ball a few times,
      he actually blocks out
he only had 3 rebounds but we had multiple because of blocking out and keeping several knicks busy.
2 of the 3 were offensive rebounds
in all honesty I still think he sets better (and harder) screens than Turner, who is always rolling way before the screen is set.

      his defense was very good

why is he not playing more?

Don't waste your breath. I was told he isn't even a NBA player. I don't know what RC doesn't like about him but he doesn't. Goga is usually a positive when he plays, but one little mistake, he's pulled. Hell, in the 2nd it was only a little bit his fault. He did pump fake too many times but it was mostly JJ and Hali the bumbled the pass and shoot.

If RC and the FO are actually burying him on the bench to tank his value and resign him on the ultra cheap, they're actually evil geniuses. That's pretty clearly not what they're doing but just saying..

You think the future of the NBA is two 6 foot dudes on middle of the pack NBA teams? lol

It already is in some ways. There's more 6 foot and smaller players than ever

Do I disagree that the future of the NBA is 6 foot dudes? yes.

I have no idea if it's factually correct or not that there are more 6 foot and smaller players than ever but that doesn't mean that it is the future of the league. Guys like Hali or Mathurin are the future of the league 6'5" to 6'10" (or taller if possible) with large skill sets and good jump shots will run the league. Not fire hydrant guys like Brunson or VanVleet. VanVleet is already flaming out in Toronto.

McConnell is the shortest guy on our roster and he's 6'1"

The number one pick this year is 7'4, yeah 6 footers are not dominating nothing.

Well, the good thing is that Hali's injury was not a non-contact injury. It didn't look like the kind of injury that could create ligament damage, unless it re-aggravated something that existed before it. So, I'm hopeful that it won't be anything too serious.

In any case, rest him for as long he needs. Hali needs to feel 100% ready before he steps on the court again.

We've already seen that if you base it on how Hali says he feels he'll be out there next game.

This is where the staff has to balance taking precautions with a player against that player getting unhappy losing playing time toward all-star or all-NBA numbers.

Or throw in a first-round pick and flip it for a max-level point guard...

I agree with everything you mentioned. I guess RC doesn't like him or his style. Pacers did him wrong. I'll be rooting for him wherever he ends up in the future.

Not to put words in McKey’s virtual mouth, but I think he just means we’re going to see a lot more guys like that than we did in the past. I generally agree, but I’d say this is just one of the many follow-on effects of how the emphasis on the three ball is changing the game.

I guess there is nothing new to me about smaller, ball dominant, score first guards in the NBA, we had one for many years in Travis Best even if he wasn't as good as Brunson or VanVleet.
