I would think that the Pacers would go after these Players that are available for a 1st round pick. If McDaniels could be had for a 1st round pick, I would hope that the Pacers would consider it. The Pacers have ( 3 ) three 1st round picks and ( 2 ) two 2nd round picks in the next draft, I seriously doubt that they will use all 5 of them. Trade one of the Cavs or Celtics 1st round picks for something OTHER THAN $$$.

The Pacers have roughly $9 mil in cap space and draft picks, do something with it for heaven's sake.

It says they are strong suitor, but they don't have a lot to offer until they give up that pick to Chicago as it is lottery protected until 2028.

Yeah, Blazers have no 2023 draft picks at all.

Don't know what they can offer the Blazers that would peak their interests.

I still think that the Pacers have some trade opportunities to acquire a decent asset that would fit the team's long term prospects.

The problem is that "decent assets" don't bring you any titles, while draft picks, with various degrees of probability, just might. Don't trade any of this year's!

And, by the way, I don't think we have 5. We surrendered our own 2nd to Sacramento, didn't we?

You are correct. We have 3 first round picks and Houston’s second round pick. We sent our second round pick to Sacramento.

I was listening to a Pacers podcast last night (forgot the name of it) but they mentioned Duarte, Goga and Cavs 1st for Collins. I’d do that. Both Duarte and Goga basically fell out of the rotation. But they also mentioned that Pacers may be giving up too much for Collins in that proposal

im not too keen on the Cavs and Celtics picks. When was the last time we drafted someone in the 20’s who actually played well?
"So, which one of you guys is going to come in second?" - Larry Bird before the 3 point contest. He won.

No thanks. Collins is not a player I would want.

My mistake, we have three 1st round picks and one 2nd round pick for a total of 4 draft picks.

Regardless, do you think that the Pacers will use all 4 draft picks in the upcoming draft?

My guess is that KP won't use all 4. Although I am hoping that they DRAFT AND KEEP 3 Players of out those 4 draft picks, I wouldn't be surprised if they end up DRAFTING AND KEEPING only 2 of those picks ( likely the Pacers pick and one of the Celtics or Rockets pick ) and then trading away the other two.

One thing to remember is that you have to look at the roster going into the summer. Assuming that there are no major trades, the Pacers have 11 Players on the roster with guaranteed salary. This does not include Taylor ( whose unguaranteed ), Goga ( whose I suspect will be back in Europe or some other team ) or Oshae who will become a UFA ( which I still think has a 1 in 3 chance of being re-signed ).

Even if the Pacers decide to move fringe Players like Theis ( whether it be in a week or leading up to the Draft itself ), I can totally see the Pacers attaching one of the picks to move those Players to replace those Players with someone of value. If the Pacers are in a position now to acquire a high quality Player that Carlisle really wants for the long term, then I have no problem including one of the Cavs, Celtics or Rockets pick to get the deal done.

This doesn't even take into consideration that the Pacers will need at least 1 roster spot if they want to sign a Free Agent.

Sadly, I simply don't see the Pacers using all 4 picks. This ( of course ) ignores that I am not 100% sold on the Pacers Scouting Department in drafting 4 quality Players while praying that Carlisle has heavy input into who to draft. I also acknowledge that a major trade to consolidate the roster. But I'm not entirely confident the KP will make a major move in the next week to clean up the roster going into next season.

Indeed, I am afraid they won't, but I hope they will. Sign the 2nd rounder as a 2-way instead of Queen. Use Theis', Goga's and Johnson's spots for the three 1st rounders. There are ways.

Absolutely, but "high quality player" is different than "decent asset".

I don't see a need to sign free agents next summer. Draft all you can, let all the young guys develop while trying to win as much as possible and assess in the summer of 2024 what you have and what your remaining need is, once we're supposed to have tons of cap space and guys like Siakam become available.

Well, here is the catch. No one expects they will draft 4 quality players. But more chances means less chances to miss on all of them. If they come up with 2 quality players, that's good enough. The last time we drafted 2 quality guys was PG and Lance, and that brought us to the conference finals.

Sharpe might be available that’s who Pacers should be trying to get, anybody but Hali/Mathu
