Good move though. It's a low cost move that gives them a decent Bench Forward but actually fills a need.

But it will likely kill whatever lingering chance that the Pacers trade either Hield or Turner to the Pacers since it will be very hard now to match salaries, short of somehow trading Westbrook ( which seems very unlikely now that he's started to better mesh with Lebron and AD ).

Isn't this like sticks since he didn't get a rookie extension, or will he be a RFA?

He will be an RFA. But one of the Lakers potential plans was to let Westbrook expire and then have quite a bit of cap space next offseason. Unless they plan for Rui to be a rental, he would complicate that plan.

So I would say the chances of a Westbrook trade have raised slightly with this move because they would be able to keep Rui and the players that they flipped for Westbrook going forward. But only slightly.

Damn, I wish we did this trade. We could have done TJM and 3 second round picks
"So, which one of you guys is going to come in second?" - Larry Bird before the 3 point contest. He won.

Hachi just seems like a guy Lakers can now package with their 2 first round picks for something valuable.

Now they can fill the "young player with potential" box plus the picks.

Can he be traded again or is there a time restriction?

I think he can be flipped right away.

Also Lakers don't need to trade Westbrook to get Reggie they have enough salaries to make it work.

story says they plan to extend him

Hachi soft as hell, although I admit we could use a 4.

I would think that the smart thing to do is to ride out the rest of the season with Westbrook and then re-sign Hachimura with their Bird Rights. The only Player that I think that the only Players beyond Lebron and AD worth keeping going forward would be Hachimura, Walker, Bryant and Reaves. With the Cap Holds, they'd be going into the Summer of 2023 at ( I think ) around $123 mil. That should leave around $9 mil for money to spend on free Agents, not including their MLE?

Not sure how re-signing Walker and Bryant would work though.

Either way, there is likely no real benefit to re-signing Westbrook in the offseason. I guess they could ( as you suggest ) trade Westbrook, but I doubt that the Lakers would want to be saddled with long term contracts. This ignores that he's doing much better now compared to earlier in the season.

Pacers were the finalists to Hachi, now I wonder if they are trying to end the tank by adding win now players

I wonder what we were offering? In order for Washington to have taken that garbage package the Lakers offered. They must not have wanted to trade Rui to a conference rival.

Kind of glad it didnโ€™t happen I guess, we all know Pritchard was going to take a celebration lap about how he got Pacers future starting power forward and how this is the team for the next five years and all they need is continuity.

Hachi must be a a serious ****up if Wiz are specifically trying to get rid of him when their other young guys are Kispert and Johnny Davis
