    T. J. Warren and next season

Okay we have 13 games left in the season, we already know he isn't playing tonight and I've not even heard where he is even a full participant in practice yet. At best he might get in 5-10 game this year. He is an UFA this off season and my guess is he will have almost zero market value as teams are not going to commit anything towards him other than very minimal contracts. This means the Pacers, IMO, have the way upper hand in negotiations with him.

The question here is, should they even bother?

I've listed some options but I've also left one for anyone that wants to add something different

I want the Pacers to sign him, hopefully at a discount but still long term and I think he will be a key part of our team going forward

I would be willing to accept him on a "prove it" type of contract, like a 1 year slightly above minimum and then team option for a much bigger year 2.

It's time to move on. He could be a valuable player but we just can't put any faith in him and I'd rather just develop someone else

Other option which I will spell out in the narrative

Depends if we draft or acquire anyone else with that legit SF size. If we don't get someone like Sharpe, Griffin or maybe Mathurin (I've seen questions about his measurements) then Warren will be needed for that size.

It'd be nice to watch him play before season's end, but we need some veterans to combine with all the youth we'll have next year, so if the doctors' reports are favorable, I'm all for a modest 1+1 "prove it" contract. If we get burned by his injury, will that really be the detail that keeps us from competing for a championship? If Warren holds up and returns to form, though--even in a support role--he'll be value-add beyond any modest contract.

I've really liked Warren since his first game as a Pacer. Believe it was a preseason game in India. Love how smooth he is offensively . Not a bad defender either.

I'd like him to have another chance. I voted 2nd option, but then again I'm so tired of injured players, I'm ok moving on.

I voted prove it, but it would have to be a 4 million sort of contract with a team option for a 2nd year 4 million contract. Ultimately, I don't think he wants to be here. The recovery time for this is a year longer than most players take to recover from torn ligaments, which boggles the mind. The only reason I keep him is if it is cheap enough next year that it doesn't affect our salary cap and gives the Pacers a potential trade chip 12 to 18 months in the future.

Move on! Itโ€™s unfortunate but he probably wonโ€™t ever be what he was. Fools gold!!

I think we need to know more about his recovery and ability to play. If not in some of our last 10 games, then some other type of workout/practice. If it appears that he can still play well, then sign him to a short term contract with incentives if he is able to play well. Maybe 3 years with the last 2 being team options.

I would do a 2 year/10 million with year 2 being a team option. I don't see him as a starter anymore but could be a key piece off the bench.

But another part of me looks at the open roster spot as gold. Taylor and Washington, IMO, have earned a contract and we have 3 picks coming. Plus Lance and possible trades, there may not be room for an unknown.

I never warmed up to him when he was healthy...no reason to waste any more time or money on him

I voted move on, but I am honestly good either way. Move on and develope the young talent. But, if you plan on signing any free agents, who are you really going to get for 10 million or less?
