Athleticism and defense will be better. Plus Hali numbers should go up with the ball in his hands more. Not saying he is better overall than Domas, but our perimeter defense should improve.

I'll say again, I'm not thrilled with what we got for Sabonis. However I am not a hypocrite either, I wanted changes and I sure as hell got them. This sometimes is the price for change. That being said I am livid that we once again chose to keep soft as a baby's *** Turner.

Now it is coming out that Sabonis had let it be known he would prefer to move on, if this is true which I have no idea if it is or not, then I can understand the Pacers willingness to make a deal. What I don't understand is why that deal did not include a first round draft choice.

Good luck Tyrese Haliburton, hopefully you can break the Pacers starting PG curse...

I like Goga too but TT is everything I want out of a defensive/rebounding big, I always hated Myles vs TT because Tristan would slap him around every time, just my preference.

Sabonis is a center. Most teams want a rim runner that’s athletic and can switch on defense. If you provide that and some offense that’s good. That’s probably why the team is high on Jackson

Thompson is also going to get playing time over the young guys, this doesn't look like a rebuild to me.

BTW Diamond Dave also points out something to add to this.

If you have Haliburton and Duarte as your guards, do you really draft a Jayden Ivey? That would seem to be a glut in the back court unless you think one of them can play the three.

Seriously I get that a lot of people are excited and stuff but we can stop with this bs right now.
You are really good at twisting what people say LOL. I did not say Haliburton as a top 3 player makes us competitors. I just said Sabonis as a key component on a team in the modern NBA is never going to work! I think his best role on a contending team is probably a 6th man.

Yesterday we had a team that we all knew was terrible and going absolutely nowhere. Today we have a team that at least has some upside, youth, athleticism, etc = things to look forward to.

If you really thought the team we had was awesome and going to win, I guess I can understand being upset? But I don't think anyone actually feels that way.

If he plays over softner I'm fine with it. But hell no he shouldn't play over Jackson or Taylor for that matter.

I wanted a draft pick as well, maybe we will flip one of these guys for a pick, my question is why do you keep saying they chose To keep Turner, I think he’s on deck..

Just because he is young doesn't mean he is going to end up as the best player.

Fact is losing teams made a trade with each other that's it, Pacers didn't get a finals MVP or something like that.
Probably not, but here's another way of looking at it... Imagine Haliburton somehow got released and had to be drafted. Where would he be picked in next year's draft. Top 5? Top 10? ... If we had gotten a top 10 pick for Domas, I think we'd all be happy. There's upside. That's all we can ask for.

I have to look at the money for the ancillary pieces, but let me say something quickly at the key pieces

Haliburton's main issue is upside. Most people project him to have a Sabonis level upside. That's the bad side. The good news is that Haliburton is already a fair way to that upside (he's good now and young). The main reason I like this swap is that between Haliburton's size, shooting, and basketball IQ, he can play with just about anybody. It was hard building lineups around Sabonis. It's super easy finding players who can play with Haliburton.

If you were one of the posters who thought that Sabonis was being held back by the team and he actually has top 10 upside, then it's a bad trade. If you think Sabonis is always going to be a low level All-Star, I think this is a great swap.

Im clearly higher on Haliburton than many here. Sabonis was my favourite player but I struggle to fault this trade in a rebuilding climate. Haliburton right now is averaging more assists than Brogdon ever has in his career and is doing it while sharing duties with Fox. Hes essentially top 10 assists and steals per game while shooting 40% from 3. Also, hes 21 and in the second year of a rookie deal.
