Kevin Pritchard should be the next to go

Kevin Pritchard on moving on from Nate Bjorkgren: "This was my decision. โ€œIf healthy, I think we can compete with any of those (top) teams. Once you get into that area โ€” assume health, assume the team comes together โ€” I think weโ€™re a tough out."

He keeps saying the same crap over and over. When healthy this team is a first round exit. I could wake up every morning and call myself an NBA player, that wouldn't make me one. KP seems to wake up every morning and think we're only "chemistry and injuries" away from competing.

KP, you need to start doing your job and bring in elite talent and vets. Every team has a mediocre phase, the Indiana Pacers seem to embrace it.

I think we have some guys who could contribute to a team that could get out of the 1st round, but I agree this is obviously not an ECF or chip contender as constructed. At minimum, it appears safe to conclude Turbonis needs split up somehow. He needs better personnel fit, increased talent, athleticism, and a really good vet presence (as you point out).
I'd rather die standing up than live on my knees.

I've been a fan of Pritchard. I believe his pros outweigh his cons. I know I am not with the majority on this one - but we're all entitled to our own opinion.

I think we need to look at our current players and their contracts. IMO almost all players on our roster have "value contracts". Have a look at what Jaren Jackson Jr and Mikal Bridges recently got paid. Sabonis and Turner are severely underpaid !!!
"So, which one of you guys is going to come in second?" - Larry Bird before the 3 point contest. He won.

Nobody is perfect, but I believe that Pritchard is doing a good job.

I think you can easily do a lot worse than Pritchard, and need to be very careful about moving on from him. This definitely isn't a Grigson situation.

Agreed. Grass isnt always greener on the other side. Keep in mind what happened when we parted with Carlisle and Vogel

I like Pritch. It's not easy to build a contender when you can't lure top tier FAs and you're always "just good enough" to not have a super high draft pick. I think we need a shakeup at PG and to move on from Warren(he's never going to be healthy), but overall I like the direction we're going.
              Dear P_George,
You have received an infraction at Pacers Digest.

My opinion is Pritchard has done a pretty decent job. I think to some of the signings like like TJ Warren and the trade for Sabonis and oladipo

My only complaint is regarding players like mcdermott who was on an expiring contract and we let them go for nothing and I don't consider the trade exception much value

I will say that the recent contract extension signings for other teams has been eye-opening to say the least. But it feels like we also have a tendency as a team to spend highly on bench players rather than starters.

Listening to or reading KP press conferences are infuriating, HOWEVER, time and time again, we hear on different podcasts or articles that his hands are tied by Simon. An unbridled KP would probably be more of the pritchslapper that he earned a reputation for.
I think KP is a Captain Planet fan. He believes that the collective will of five decent starters can outweigh the power of top-level talent. Too bad Herb won't cut the check for their Planeteer rings.

The NBA's elite players backed by their agents have figured out how to rig the league in their favor. Between having to deal with a rigged system and Herb's restricitions, KP can't just wave a magic wand and do whatever he wants to. He is a man between a rock and a hard place with his hands tied by forces beyond his control as any Pacers Pres of BBall OPs would be. All he can do is deal with the situation as gracefully as possible, and hope for some good luck to come his way. Considering the situation, I doubt anyone else could do much better. At least he hasn't yet made any screw-ups of epic proportions like his predecessor did.

Edit: Well guess I've already forgotten about Nate 2.0 but will give KP a pass on that one.

Grigson was much more successful than Pritchard even tries to be. I don't like Grigson, but he was saddled with awful decisions from Irsay regarding coaching and some player personnel. Pritchard in theory can hire who he wants, draft who he wants, and trade for who he wants, and has created a much worse team than the Grigson era Colts, with worse contracts, and less reason for optimism. You're right, this isn't a Grigson situation, it's worse.
