If Tinsley is not traded this summer . . .

. . . then I consider it a failed summer for the Pacers.

This is the Pacers big chance to provide a true and genuine fresh start for the fans and the franchise.

Let's assume JO will be traded. That being the case, Tinsley is the only player left from the brawl days that fans have problems with.

Suppose we make a sweeping trade for JO. And we already have a new coach. BUT . . . the guy handling the ball for 75 percent of the 24 second clock and the guy who is in the position to make the most important decisions for the ball team all year . . . is STILL Jamaal Tinsley.

Psychologically, it will still feel like 75 percent of the old Pacers are still here.

We need a fresh start. I hope and pray Larry and Donnie feel the same way.

Why do people hate Tinsley so much? I see nothing wrong with his game. The offense suits him more now, so I'd keep him to see how he does

I disagree. We should keep him.

He has no trade value..and he has talent. He's better then any PG we will be able to acquire. Give him a shot in O'Briens system this year. If he fails, dump him next offseason.

Yes. If a good offer comes along, you take it, but a good offer won't come along. Work on getting rid of Murphy first! (I mean, after all, he's the only thing close to a point guard that we have right now)

What I already know concerns me enough, but if it's additionally true that Bird/Walsh are so desperate to ditch him that they're pushing to include him in the LA trade WITHOUT getting a PG in return, then he REALLY must have issues and needs to be taken away ASAP.

If we manage to trade Murph/JO for Bynum/Odom/Kwame/WHOEVER else, we win huge. Murphy is vastly overpaid and while he was injured this year, I really don't like him as a player. He's way to soft all around.

I don't hate Tinsley. I don't know enough about him to care that much one way or another on a personal level. I love the way he can handle the ball, but I absolutely hate everything else about his game.

If JT starts at PG for the Pacers this coming season, I will be disappointed and will not follow the team to the same extent. I like accurate shooters, great defenders, great team play and great leadership from the PG. Tinsley fails miserably in each of those categories.

What do you think of his defense, shooting and leadership? Do you think any of these are important for your starting PG?

You guys act like trading Tinsley is the Pacers choice and can be done at the snap of Bird's fingers. It aint that simple. It is the choice of the other teams in the league and with 4 years remaining on his contract no one wants him. NO ONE. Not even with JO as bait.

I'm fine with giving him a shot under Obie. If TPTB think he's a lost cause and trade him, I'm fine with that, too. But they better be prepared for him to have a Jack-like impact elsewhere, at least for the short term.

I don't see how it's a failed offseason. I would be surprised if Tinsley is traded. Bird obviously likes him or we wouldn't have traded away A.J. to make sure Tinsley would play. O'Brien also really likes the guy, which might go a long way as far as Tinsley improving. This is the make it or break it year for Tinsley, and everybody knows it. I don't think he had a bad year last season, and I think with a coaching staff that's all on the same page could not only help Tinsley's game, but it could also motivate him knowing the coach likes the way he plays.

I'm quite sure there's at least 3-4 teams out there that would love to have Tinsley on their roster. I think it's US that doesn't want to give him up. That's obviously because there's not a better point guard that we can realistically get our hands on without spending a ton of money, which is something Bird already said he can't and won't do.

I'd like to keep him and see how he plays under a new coach. He definitely has talent and I hope his game improves under the new circumstances.

If they trade him, then our new starting point guard would be who..?
                          McLeod, Armstrong or even Daniels?
Please not, I can't see the Pacers trading for a good (better) point guard this offseason!

Keep him at least until the trading deadline!

I don't hate Tinsley, but I do want him gone. Here's why:

He can't shoot from more than 10' with any consistency, and his outside shot has not improved one bit since he entered the league.

He is not capable of guarding the quicker PG's in the league, and his only concept of team defense is dropping down to steal the ball from a big in the post.

He is not emotionally mature enough to start for a contending team, even in the Eastern conference. When things start to turn sour, he goes back to his playground days, playing 1 on 1 against vastly superior players.

The last reason is the big one for me. Tinsley has the physical tools to excel, but I don't think that he's got the mental tools. I'll admit there's a slight possibility that the coaching change could benefit him immensly, as Carlisle was notoriously bad with players on a personal level.

All this being said, I don't see Tinsley going anywhere this summer. He and Daniels are the only real PG options on the roster, and no worthwhile PG's have been mentioned in any rumors or trade talks.

Maybe we could ship Tinsley to LA and then ship Odom to Milwaukee for Mo Williams and some talented filler (Charlie Bell).
