The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!).Comment

Re: Official 2007 Playoffs Thread
All I know is Horry is too experienced, too much of a proven playoffs player, too much of a winner to do something irrational like that in the heat of the moment. Horry knows how to win and if Amare and Diaw get suspended, it looks like the Spurs will do just that.Comment

Re: Official 2007 Playoffs Thread
I don't think Pop told him to, I think Horry might have had his own plan. Maybe to take some of the focus off of Bowen. Or get his team riled up in order to stop the surging Suns. Or maybe he was trying to get a rise out of the Suns? I dont know....

I didn't recall Stern going with the "gray area" on the leaving the bench rule before, that changes my viewpoint on this one a bit. Bad rule. Fine guys for leaving the bench and only suspend when they get involved in the melee beyond taking a step forward then a step back.Comment

Yep, here's the story: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playof...ory?id=2871615
PHOENIX -- Phoenix center Amare Stoudemire and teammate Boris Diaw were suspended Tuesday for one game for leaving the bench after Robert Horry's flagrant foul of Steve Nash in Game 4 of the Suns' Western Conference semifinal against San Antonio.
The NBA also announced Horry was suspended for two games for knocking Nash into the scorer's table with 18 seconds remaining in the Suns' 104-98 victory at San Antonio on Monday night. Phoenix's victory evened the series at 2-2.
All three players will miss Wednesday night's Game 5 in Phoenix of what has been a rough, intense showdown between two of the best teams in the NBA. Horry also will miss Friday night's Game 6 in San Antonio.
Horry was suspended for flagrantly fouling Nash and striking Raja Bell about the shoulders with a forearm, NBA executive vice president Stu Jackson said in a statement. Stoudemire and Diaw were suspended for leaving "the immediate vicinity of their bench" during the altercation.Comment

Wow, so both teams lose two player-games to suspension. It's all even then!
It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

Basically, Phoenix gets a tiny advantage in game 6, while san antonio gets a MASSIVE advantage in game 5....

Re: Official 2007 Playoffs Thread
I just read this on a Suns board:
"KTAR 620 just reported that Stern will NOT be at the game tomorrow. He canceled his trip at the last minute. "
I don't get it, why would Stern decide to not attend the game in Phoenix now?Comment

Re: Official 2007 Playoffs Thread
All told, Horry was probably San Antonio's 2nd best big man through the playoffs thusfar. Without him, it's going to be tough to space out Phoenix's defense.

You'd think that he had enough kahonas to come to Indy after the brawl he'd be brave enough to go there.Comment

Yep, he stayed in front of their bench, but he was a couple of feet onto the playing floor. Double standard, you bet, always has been that way.Comment
