Make Dale Davis guard him every game.
It was fun to watch Dale & Al go at it. It was like watching grasshopper & the master go head to head. Several times in the second quarter Al could not get what he wanted on the offensive end because Dale just disrupted him. But then Al finally broke free for a shot.
Lots of fun there.
BTW, I want to hear it from some of you. Al had a great game, for the most part, & I think since people are so quick to complain about him that it is only fair that when he has a good game it should be mentioned.
Al did great on Zach Randolph. In the 4th when Al "pulled the chair" on Zach he made him look beyond foolish. So foolish in fact that he acted like he twisted his ankle & then once the other players ran down the court he got up & ran just fine.
BTW, I know that I am biased here, but damn Dale did great in a very short time span. Solid pick after solid pick along with suprising perimater defense, which I was shocked to see Dale switch to the wing. Something he did not do a lot of here in Indiana.
God if there was only some way he could return. I miss Dale
Moving on.
Can we all agree on something? Can we all agree that height & size do not make up for skill & ability?
I say that to say this. Why do we insist on playing the "Pollard must play because of his size & matchups" vs. some teams?
Austin Croshere is just a better player. He will give you more points & probably as many rebounds a game as Pollard in the same time. But Austin gives much more, as he proved in last nights game.
While I'm on it can I say that whenever anybody wants to ask me about Foster & his defense I will point to his defense on Zach Randolph. He couldn't guard him without fouling.
Physical defense does not mean fouling. Al played very physical defense vs. Zach & did well, Jeff tried & did not.
He is good vs. some players but there are those he can't guard.
Of course seeing him & Dale Davis on the same floor didn't help me any so in reality I should just not say anything about it.
Has there ever been a player that has disrupted our team in less time on the floor than what Theo Ratliff does. Every since he was back in Detroit the guy has just caused our team to adjust on the offensive end. He blocked 7 shots & altered 8 others. To bad he can't do much of anything else & that his knee's have always been a problem cause the guy can really disrupt us.
BTW, if Artest deserves suspension then so does Ratliff. He threw a deliberate elbow to O'Neals face when they were falling out of bounds chasing a loose ball. To O'Neals credit he just turned & walked away.
No matter where Reggie Miller fits into the overall scheme of the N.B.A.'s all-time players one thing I beleive for sure. Nobody has hit so many well timed shots to suck the life out of the opponet like Reggie has. It's not just game winning shots, but shots that alter a game like the three he hit tonight.
Ok, let's discuss the Artest thing. I'll be honest I didn't see it happen live. I saw Anderson on the deck but didn't know what happened. I came home read on here about Ron maybe being suspended & was shocked. Then I went & watched my tivo'd game on ESPN & saw it.
I don't know. It could have been just an acident. But it could have been on purpose as well.
If it was an accident then no big deal.
If he did this on purpose it goes one step further as to why I can't close my eyes & root blindly for the guy. If he did it on purpose it goes further to point out to me the guy is nothing but a bully.
Notice he never does this stuff to somebody like Zach, Theo or even Ruben. He goes & hits the rail thin Anderson. I won't even mention Dale in this because we all know that that would be the last time Ron did anything like that ever again because Dale would kill him.
Why doesn't Ron ever do this stuff to people who are his own size or bigger?
Actually if he did it on purpose, why does he do this stuff at all?
But I will not gripe about it to much because I'm still not sure it was on purpose.
Other than that, great game. Great win & the Pacers should feel very proud.
