OT: Is it safe to say we've lost hype (and users) because of players leaving/traded?

I remember a few years back, we've always had a game topic, post game topic, odd thoughts, reaction topics, sometimes even pre-game topics. Now I look at the forum and I see a lot less activity, which makes me wonder, maybe it's because many of us had our favorite players traded/walked away from the team? Heck, we've had Brandon Rush apologists, followers of Psycho-T, a user who thought A.J Price should get more minutes, and a user whose name called to bring back Jarret Jack! I just don't see all that emotion here anymore.

I mean, a few years back we were a terrible lottery team with no superstar, now we're a playoff-ish team with one of the best players in the league, so I guess winning has nothing to do with it. It has to be something else.

For me, I lost a lot of interest when we traded away Danny, of course I'm still following the team, but no longer stay up all night to watch games against crappy teams. I guess others may feel the same because of guys like West, Hibbert and Hill, even Vogel.

Maybe it also has to do with the crappy security error message? What do you guys think?

I think it is a combination of a lot of things. Everything you said has some merit for certain, but I also think there are just a lot more places you can go to on social media now to talk about the Pacers or the NBA in general. A lot of people prefer the snappy banter of twitter or other social media avenues.

However, yes without a doubt the red wall of death I believe is a huge issue. However we have not been able to solve this problem and sadly the guys who have worked on it I think are out of ideas. But it is not a lack of trying on their part.

However I will end with the same challenge I tell anyone who opines for the good old days.

Dude we could solve it in 48 hours if you upload the html thing from google webmaster tools I sent you way back, I can send it again if you do not have it. I deal with this all the time its very simple.

Personally I find the current incarnation of the team to be a lot less likeable than the near recent past.

I can't even fathom anyone thinking I would not have done that 20 times already ? it's to silly for words to consider that, anyway I am awaiting a timetable from VB for the move to the new server and new software.

Fair enough, I just deal with them a lot on this very issue for lots of websites.

In my case, I am focused on the World Series. Being a Cub fan for the past 47 years, I realize this may never happen again.

Since it is still early in the basketball season, I have not fully gotten into the Pacers. Sure I keep an eye on them, but the Cubs in the World Series takes precedence.

With players teaming up, I view that as unfair competition so I have grown less interested. I root for the Pacers but I have lost the passion. I have to believe it is real competition to get too invested.

Kinda on the same boat too. That damn KD signing by GSW kinda took the wind out of my sails for the next 1-2 years.

For me, I'm watching the games, because I love basketball and the Pacers. In years past, I always thought they had a legit shot at the Championship. Until Lebron retires or GSW is broken up, it'll some open before any team's window is open again...assuming that we don't make any blockbuster trade.

The Cavs are beatable, but that GSW team...smh.

EDIT: Here's a legit question...what do you all think the Pacers' ceiling would have been even with "legit" moves and assuming there's not a blockbuster trade? For example, if we somehow got Courtney Lee or whatever rumored trade during the offseson, would the ECF had been our ceiling? The Cavs don't worry me as much, because we at least have Paul George to counter Lebron James then we would have to gameplan against Irving and Love.

Remember when we could have gotten 1-2 solid players and a possible Top 3 draft pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by trading away Paul George?

I tend to spend less time here, candidly... b/c there are more and more circumstances of circular arguments that occur here, many of which seem to get personalized.

I come here for an escape from the grind, not to induce stress or feel badly. I hope the admins of the site can do something about reigning things in a bit on that front.

I certainly understand what you are saying and believe me we all often agree with this. However it is really a tight rope to walk between allowing a certain amount of freedom of expression with trying to be fair to all and clamping down on uncivilized postings.

One of the bigger problems with this is that a lot of the circular arguments that get heated often times are between some of our more active and long term posters. Since the admins of the site are all also fans of the team often times we pick sides in a topic as well so IMO we have to be very careful to not let our personal opinions of the topic overly influence how we deal with posters on the other side of the topic. Really this is one of the reasons we kind of like the Lance Stephenson thread. Not that we want to read it, believe me we don't, but this helps us keep that contained to a certain extent to one thread and not have to chase it down from thread to thread and having to remember who insulted who here first. Also this allows other posters who do not want to see the squabbling about Lance just avoid that thread altogether.

I know that this all sounds like an excuse on our part and maybe it is, but (and I am speaking for me here only not all admins) really prefer to fall on the side of freedom of thought and expression. I really only like to get involved when people start insulting other people.

All of that being said I certainly respect your thoughts on the matter and I know we will pay closer attention to this and see if we can't help a little more. I would also ask for help from the community. If you see something that you think is out of line please let us know by reporting it. That doesn't mean we will do anything about it because it may or may not cross what line we have but at the very least we will see it. We try and read almost every thread but we can't be everywhere at once.

LATE EDIT: Also I want to issue a call to arms for anyone who is reading. Post more. Reply More. Start more topics.

We as admins can only regulate certain activities and actions, it is has been and always will be you the posters who drive the content of the board. If you think the forum is dead, post something. You think the remarks are uncivilized or something else post a reply and show others the proper way. Tired of just reading the same 3-5 threads over and over? Start a new topic.

BTW, Docpaul that was not directed at you. I'm saying this to everyone.
