Has to be for a smaller long term deal? I can't imagine West leaving the Pacers to go chase a ring somewhere else. Guy just doesn't strike me that way.

Maybe he doesn't see a fit with Paul George playing 15-20 minutes a night at PF?

that puts us at ~52.5MM in salary, assuming Roy opts IN. what's the cap next year, like $68MM?

I don't really see how this is bad for us.

That's a really good thought, but who knows?

Maybe he will issue a release stating his reasoning and intentions.

well, it creates a pretty big hole at PF. Not that West was an all-star, but he was a reliable above-average starter.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

I don't know why the Pacers would prefer to do a long term deal with a guy who will be 35 when the season starts. If I'm Bird, then I'd MUCH rather him play this year out on the current contract and then have all of that cap space in 2016. Just can't see Bird committing long term to West right now. We'll see. This is an interesting and very surprising development.
