I think Whittington deserves some praise for his game. He struggled early then played really good in the 2nd half.

Everyone is gunning, its not very structured basketball, the refs are terrible, and it just seems that guys who look aggressive are having the best games, but really they aren't.
Guys like Solo and Whitty are actually at a disadvantage in summer league because they are used to playing their roles with the main team, and then all the sudden you hear folks in the media say, those guys better dominate and feast during the summer league!

Very encouraged by Turner though. I don't have an issue with all the fouls, they literally had a week of practice after all.
If we want a floor general, we should get Kendall Marshall.

I'm not sure we need anymore 1-2's, but Marshall one of the best passers I have ever seen.

Except he doesn't brick 17 ft. fade away jumpers like O'Neal. ha

He reminds me of the raw Serge Ibaka, but more developed on his shot than his defense at this early age. Ibaka developed the exact opposite order building his mid/long range shooting ability later in his career. With Vogel and the weight room, he has the potential to be way better than Ibaka, but in a similar vein.

I wasn't too mad about the pick, but I like what I see. As someone stated before, he could become a true stretch 5 and not some player who plays the role in spot minutes. The NBA unicorn.

Having watched him play and seeing other YouTube videos, I was wrong about him playing as a PF. He's definitely a center, so I don't see him getting any minutes at the PF spot. Hmmmm....I wouldn't mind seeing a Allen/Turner experiment during the preseason games.

Remember when we could have gotten 1-2 solid players and a possible Top 3 draft pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by trading away Paul George?

Depending on injuries, Allen and Turner could potentially both start a few games next year. As far as being a stretch 5, I like Turner shooting mid range shots. Not sure if he needs to be drifting out to the 3 point line

He's on our D-League team. He's played pretty well.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

he's got a ton of talent, wouldn't be stunned to get a cup of coffee some point down the line if he's finally starting to put it together and keeping his nose clean.

If he was in a better system, I think we see a much better player in college, and no way he falls to us. I'm not basing this on summer league though, as I've been hoping we were going to be able to get him for a while. Summer league doesn't mean anything to me but it is nice entertainment.
For me the difference is Lyles played out of position, and did decent, because of the depth that was on the team, Turner however still played center at Texas and occasionally stepped out to the wing to take long range shots. This is basically the same thing he is doing in summer league, but is having more success, again he struggled against good competition, so it will be interesting to see how he does against true bigs who are quick and have length.

His game is built more around mid-range and long range shots, if he is meant to be used as a guy that finishes down low he will probably struggle a bit, because of his lack of explosiveness down low on offense, good defenders will be able to time his shot and either block it or contest it.

Also I talk about Turners box out needing work, it is not the form of his box out, that is fine for the most part, but it is his explosiveness in getting the ball at it's highest height, in addition he uses his arms well to create distance from defenders on box outs, but he doesn't do a good job with disengage with those defenders so he can make a play on the ball and get the rebound.

I can't wait to see Myles Turner play in a real NBA game. He was the guy I predicted we would pick for a solid month leading up to the draft, and while I hoped we would get Stanley Johnson, I was still good with the Turner selection. Summer League preface and all, he's still looking really good. The biggest knock on him was that he "doesn't know how to run". Anyone still concerned about that after actually watching him play, and not just taking the word of someone you deem to be an expert?

A lot of that is strength and repetition. When you've always been the longest player on the court, you lose some of the fundamentals when it comes to small things like that.

I don't think he will ever be the "explosive" rebounder that you're looking for. His athleticism is much more smooth than it is explosive (think Bosh or Aldridge in terms of athleticism). He kind of glides when he jumps. As long as he gets stronger and learns to use that length, he will continue to be a strong rebounder.
