Seems to love his year here, so I like that. Loved the improved shooting, and he played at a 6th man level to me. I'd prefer he'd play that type role too. Like when he can go out there and be aggressive.

Re: Rate the Season: Rodney Stuckey

I'm eating crow and I would like to see him be re-signed and pair with Solo to make a solid pair of bench wings. Up and down, but he was in a tough position. 39% from 3 is way better than I expected and it's why I have moved from appreciating his play but wanting to part ways to thinking he can effectively pair with Solomon Hill.

      Some interesting stats:

      Shooting: Catch & Shoot 43.5%, 39.6% from 3; 59.1% Catch & Shoot eFG% in 2015
58.4% eFG% on touches lasting 2 or less seconds, higher than touches lasting longer
41.7% on drives, 7th on the team, 6th for non-big men.
41.4% of his shots were on drives with an eFG% of 50.5, 19.5% of his shots were catch & shoot with an eFG% of 56.5, and 37.2% of his shots were pullups with an eFG% of 39.6%
Only shot 38.5% with a defender within 6 feet
58th in the league and 2nd on the team (behind Miles) in transition with 120 or more FGAs in transition with an eFG% of 52.2%
28th in the league and 3rd on the team (behind Rudez & Watson) in spot up eFG% with 100 or more FGAs
T44th in the league and 2nd on the team (behind G. Hill) in P&R Ball Handler eFG% with 100 or more FGAs

Defense: Players shot .1% better from the field and 2.3% better from 3 when Rodney Stuckey is guarding them
T68th in the league and 5th on the team (behind Miles, G. Hill, Watson, Sloan) defending the P&R ball handler in terms of PPP (minimum of 100 FGAs)
T175th in the league and 5th on the team (behind Miles, West, Scola, S. Hill) defending the spot-up PPP (minimum 100 FGAs)

Misc: Net rating of -6.1 starting, net rating of 5.6 coming off the bench
Net rating of -5.2 pre-ASB, net rating of 7.2 post-ASB

Overall, poor defender and struggled attacking the basket, but great at spot-up shooting. That should be his role coming off the bench.

He is not Lance Stephenson. Completely different games. However he can be one of the better bench wings in the league and a 6MOY contender if he plays like he did in 2015.

He's a heck of a 6th man, 3rd guard type of guy. Seems to really fit in personality wise with the rest of the crew. Flawed, but talented enough.

The only thing that I am concerned about is that he's injury prone.

Aren't we all? I love his transition defense.

If we are judging these guys based off of what they earned he is easily an A. Of all the Pacers he played about his salary more than anyone.

I am thrilled with Stucky and hope they keep him, I think the mid level is all they will have to re sign him with, I hope its enough.

I also expect them to go after Mo Williams as the backup pg, I hope they dont sacrifice Stucky to get Mo.

I just don't know why he signed a 1 year deal though

Because he wanted to rebuild his value on a playoff team after developing a bad rep on the Pistons. Mission accomplished, I think.

Funny thing is, I think Stuckey is a better player than Miles, but Miles' skillset is more useful to us right now.

Also, I think Stuckey's 3P% of 39% must be a fluke due to small sample size (he takes less than a third of Miles' 3PA per game). We'll see if it holds up.

Stuckey starting was often a disaster. Stuckey as first wing off the bench was often a lifesaver.

                        That is all.

Stuckey was my favorite player on the roster this season. Needless to say, I want to see him brought back on a long-term deal. 3-4 year deal, worth around $5-6 mil/year

Or... the problem with Miles is the large sample size.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

I sure hope we can keep Stuckey around. I see him as the primary back-up at the 2 with Solo at the back-up at the 3. I think he was my most pleasant surprise of the year. He plays with passions, is smart, and a good teammate.
