George Hill is not a point guard and he can't create well for the offense.

But he is a solid player. He has plenty of heart. He's a great guy and he makes the Pacers better. No reason to hate on him for not playing the position or role that's left for management to bring in.

I've been giving the benefit of the doubt for a while, but I'm seriously thinking that we're just being trolled around here after reading the second page of this thread. It has reached a new peak of ridiculousness.

Wow, totally derailed thread. PG watching and learning some how turned into a discussion about our hopes with a heartless underachieving starting pg, then into a yes he is/no he's not conversation. I love to play devil's advocate all the time, it's fun and good for discussion. Gotta keep it relevant though. This is not productive.

Your right, we have have Paul George for that. If you think we are threatening in the East without Paul George, you are crazy.

This season is going to be Grimp complaining about how bad we stink due to our W-L record without taking any circumstance into consideration.

Nonsense. I just want us to have a season like the Hawks had last season. Minus Horford, they did quite well because they had shooters. I figure if we structure our team similar to that, we can at least get 8th seed and upset someone even in a PG-less season.

As terrible as this injury was....

I do think PG will benefit mentally from being forced to spend this time observing from a distance. If you sort of put yourself in his shoes prior to that incident... he was very active in the basketball world --- as a participant. From NBA obligations, to sponsorship obligations, community obligations, free-lance obligations, it was pretty easy to imagine PG being someone who never had time to stop and pull back within himself. Sometimes that close-up, non-stop perspective hinders growth from a high-level.

He seems like a smart guy. I had an injury to my ankle that kept me from being able to play in my late-teens, and that down-time gave me a lot of time to recoup my energy, rest my mind, sit back and watch some games and on TV and live. It was only a 6-month period, but I could feel myself putting things together in my mind even while I sat there not able to run or anything. And when I finally was able to get up and moving and back in shape... it translated almost immediately to the court. A lot of things all of a sudden made sense to me that didn't before. Whereas I was a mostly perimeter shooter before... all of a sudden I had a sense on how to handle the ball better, where to position myself for rebounds better, came in with a new-found mid-range game where I actually welcomed contact, learned how to use leverage and balance. My game really, really expanded due to me being forced off the court for awhile. Even if I was nowhere near where I was physically before, I was a much better player. Once the conditioning returned, I new how to better protect my body and be more effective on the court. The game slowed down a lot in my mind, and all of a sudden it dawned on me that you can be very effective playing basketball without being a physical freak, although it helps.

I think this could be a similar situation for PG. He's already a physical freak. Now he can sort of "bolt on" the mental advantage.

There are two types of quarterbacks in the league: Those whom over time, the league figures out ... and those who figure out the league.

And the second we go on a losing streak (like the Hawks did) you will go crazy and propose 15 trades per day.

What makes you think he wouldn't already be proposing 15 trades per day?
