    Fire Larry Bird

I have had a few hours to digest losing Lance, and the more I think about it, Bird needs to get fired. No excuse losing such a talented prospect like Lance for nothing. The whole point of drafting and developing players is to have them while in their prime. Lance has basically played only 2 years, he will improve, and spend the prime years of his career for another team. I'm so disgusted with our front office right now. I used to think the OKC GM was terrible for trading James Harden, but at least he got something in return. For everybody thinking "addition by subtraction", ask OKC how that is working out for them. We lost a major piece of our future today, and any hope for a title next season has been ruined.

Besides Solomon Hill, we have no other young prospects to develop. Bird traded Plumlee, and this year's first round pick for an over-the-hill Luis Scola. When we were desperate for a point guard, Bird drafted Tyler Hansbrough over Jeff Teague and Ty Lawson. Bird traded Danny Granger, the most beloved Pacer since Reggie Miller, for basically nothing.

Yes, Bird nailed the 2010 draft and took a chance on David West, but the negatives out-weigh the positives in this case. I have been waiting my whole life for one championship. Just one. And now my dreams have been crushed. Thank you Larry for ruining the future of the Pacers

I'll be sure to bump this when Lance has a "Lance moment" in Charlotte.

I have a feeling I'll be bumping this a lot.

Go root for the Hornets if Lance Stephenson means so much to you.

So we are going to fire the GM for making the best offer and having the player turn it down? We could not pay Lance max money nor should we have even if we had the cap room. The Pacers made him the best offer and he choose to take a lesser offer for a lesser team.

Larry gave him an equal or better offer and he wanted to play somewhere else.

                example:
You have a headache and need advil.

My store sells it for $5 a bottle.
The store down the street sells it for $5.25 a bottle.
You buy it at the more expensive store.

Then you tell me that my price was too high.

                Um, no, it was not.

You just wanted to go to that other store, apparently. Maybe they have a cute checkout girl?
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!).

We gave up on a pretty much average player who was a headcase. I do not like Bird but this is not one of the reasons to dislike him.

Lance is not a special talent. You don't fire a GM over losing a player like Lance. You fire a GM over losing players that change the whole complexion of the game. Players that teams change how they play for. By that I do not mean, "let's put Lebron (or whoever) on this guy so he can sag way off and basically freelance as a defender". I mean, "Lebron don't attack the basket because Roy Hibbert is down there".

Lance does some silly things but "Lance moment" seems to infer Crazy Ron memories. I think there could also be bumping of many Lance amazing (in a good way) moments too.

How about we at least wait until the Summer is over before we declare this offseason a disaster? There is a lot of time to make trades or other moves before the start of training camp in October.

Larry made a logical offer that a logical person would accept. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that Lance was advised by a logical person as his agent.
