I have had a few hours to digest losing Lance, and the more I think about it, Bird needs to get fired. No excuse losing such a talented prospect like Lance for nothing. The whole point of drafting and developing players is to have them while in their prime. Lance has basically played only 2 years, he will improve, and spend the prime years of his career for another team. I'm so disgusted with our front office right now. I used to think the OKC GM was terrible for trading James Harden, but at least he got something in return. For everybody thinking "addition by subtraction", ask OKC how that is working out for them. We lost a major piece of our future today, and any hope for a title next season has been ruined.
Besides Solomon Hill, we have no other young prospects to develop. Bird traded Plumlee, and this year's first round pick for an over-the-hill Luis Scola. When we were desperate for a point guard, Bird drafted Tyler Hansbrough over Jeff Teague and Ty Lawson. Bird traded Danny Granger, the most beloved Pacer since Reggie Miller, for basically nothing.
Yes, Bird nailed the 2010 draft and took a chance on David West, but the negatives out-weigh the positives in this case. I have been waiting my whole life for one championship. Just one. And now my dreams have been crushed. Thank you Larry for ruining the future of the Pacers
