Too bad he won't play. Frank had a 3 point specialist (Copeland) last year and refused give him any meaningful minutes. This guy had better be ready to sit on the bench and cheer his team like Copeland.

Not to go Gimpish - but does anyone feel that we are going to at least try to move one of our bigs? We kind of have a log jam at the 4 (Scola, Cope, Allen if re-signed, now Rudez who is a combo forward) Maybe I am reading too much into this and expecting too much out of the new guy (as in being a part of the rotation)
Either trading Copeland or the more likely waiving of Scola. I think Bird is setting the table for the deal that brings Lance back.

Sorry, I should've labeled the positions........

          PF- Rudez
          SF- Copeland
          C- Allen
          SG- Miles
          PG- Watson

That's my thought. The timing of this... makes me think someone is about to get moved here very soon.

Not only that, but to avoid the tax we almost certainly have to move someone (assuming we still want Lance back).

And definitely when we sign a 28 year old guy he dang better be in the rotation. Copeland being signed to a 2 year $6m deal and then relegated to the deep bench still pisses me off.

Well, at least Rudez has size at 6'10, that may have been one of the reasons he was anti-Copeland right?

I don't think that means much, just because a player was not on the radar does not mean you can not interpret his game and make a judgement if you think he is a steal or not. By the way he really looks really good and I think that he shows wonderful game, honestly it looks like he has a really good game that fits some of the holes we have. Adding that he has experience is a definite plus for a team in search of veterans.
                  Why so SERIOUS

                    Like this signing.
First time in a long time, I've been happy with the team that was constructed, and now they struggle. I blame the coach.

I personally think Scola will be gone, and potentially Copeland, and Allen will be signed back, and we may try to get a 1 or 2 depending on who is out there and how big of a role they can play, I think Allen is back because he can grow into being a defensive presence that we need, but you have to wonder what type of contract he will want after being overpaid heavily in his last contract.

I came to the conclusion based on today's NBA. Where everyone is trying to get quicker, speedier, more athletic. Where once small forwards like Terrence Jones, are now playing power forward for teams like the Rockets. The way I see it shaking out is Rudez backing up West, Copeland backing up PG, LaVoy backing up Roy, Miles backing up Lance. I wonder though..........if Larry trades CJ and signs Jameer. Salaries would be equal. But would Jameer be a better fit than CJ? CJ is quicker, but Jameer has a bigger frame. Can't get posted up so easily. Jameer also is a better floor general, and can run PNR to death.

Copeland at small forward in today's NBA is the opposite of trying to get quicker, speedier, and more athletic.

Scola and probably Ian are gone.

Waiving Scola doesn't get it done alone. We've gotta move a Cope or Mahinmi as well. Probably want to get that done pretty quickly as I'm sure other people are looking to pay Lance.

This is fun lol I am enjoying this offseason.

If you saw Copeland in New York he is quick and can play SF. What happened to him here you ask? He worked out with Tyson Chandler in the off-season. Last off-season. He wanted to come to Indy and be more than a shooter. He wanted to expand to a post game as well. The added muscle mass slowed him down somewhat. Same that happened to Roy. But in New York he was spry, moving around the 3-pt line with ease. Look up Copeland on YT with NEW YORK KNICKS. And then look at him with the Pacers. He is at least twice as big now as he was then. Particularly in the upper body area.
