    IU Basketball 2024-2025 season

    Woodson still sucks.
Nuntius was right for a while. I was wrong for a while. But ultimately I was right and Frank Vogel has been let go.

This is why under no circumstances do I fall for the annual pre-season hype about IU. IU basketball is complete mediocrity until proven otherwise. The Louisville game was definitely one of the worst losses in recent years, and that’s saying something given how putrid this program has been.

Iu entered the battle for Atlantis a ranked team. They fell out and won't be back again this season. They do seem to have a pretty weak schedule from here on out for the next 6 weeks or so though.

What’s amazing to me is just how many times over the last few years we’ve gotten the absolute **** kicked out of us. We have way too many games that are just absolute beat downs. Probably the worst indictment of a coach that you can have.

At about 38 minutes into the podcast, Brian Evans is on the podcast... and the 2 hosts and Brian Evans don't pull any punches telling stories about Mike Woodson... Recruiting... Matta... players (Parker Stewart)... fights...
Nuntius was right for a while. I was wrong for a while. But ultimately I was right and Frank Vogel has been let go.

Obviously, the podcasters have a bone to pick with Woodson after their falling out, and there's no choking of players being reported on, but for anyone that's been around the low-energy Woodson, the things they are telling certainly track.
A combination of arrogance and laziness seems to be a common thread.

Then there's the stories that seem to show Woodson doesn't have much attention to details. Forgetting recruits names... forgetting who their BTT opponent was going to be based on standings (including ultimately an altercation with punches thrown with the staff over the issue)... (thinking it was going to be the wrong Michigan team they needed to prepare for).

Ignoring recruits.... Coaches around the state allegedly naming him "Bigfoot" (they've all heard of him... but nobody sees him). This included a firsthand account of Woodson just deciding to skip seeing a player to continue playing cards instead.

Along with the lack of in person interactions with recruits on the recruiting trail, there was talk also saying he was lax in making calls or sending texts either.

Allegedly, Woodson called out Parker Stewart in a practice telling him he's never been coached... when Parker's coach for most of his life had been his recently deceased (at the time) father. This caused Parker to leave the team and go home, and Woodson left it to others to talk him into returning.
The question mark was whether Woodson was that arrogant and cold, or whether his lack of paying attention to details led to him not realizing what he was saying to Stewart. But then if we give him that benefit of the doubt, why didn't Woodson himself try and apologize and repair that bridge?

They put the hiring of Woodson onto Steve Ferguson and Quinn Buckner, saying Woodson doesn't really report to Dolson and Dolson was not the driving force in the hiring of Woodson. Meanwhile, they said Dolson thought Matta would be a great resource to bring in for Woodson. Woodson thought differently and had no use for Matta.

Nuntius was right for a while. I was wrong for a while. But ultimately I was right and Frank Vogel has been let go.

I gotta give Nebraska the edge for friday.they got at least 3 wins a a row and by 15+ points. Plus, hoiberg is a better coach than woody.

Who is not a better coach that Woodson? I'd take Mike Davis, Crean, or Archie over Woodson. Not that they didn't all deserve to be replaced... but geez... Woodson... He might be worse than I ever expected he'd be, and I had concerns from the day he was announced.
