    IU Football 2024

    New coach... new hope...
3rd week of the season and there's no season thread?
    Ok... Here it is.
2 wins and UCLA is next up.
Nuntius was right for a while. I was wrong for a while. But ultimately I was right and Frank Vogel has been let go.

While the Hoosier football team has had a history of letting fans down, barely winning when they were overwhelming favorites, losing games they should or at least could win, getting blown out when they were expected to be competitive, and of course finding new ways to pull defeat from the jaws of victory, the fact is that this team's 3-0 start has ticked all the proper boxes. They deserve a large crowd at the next home game. They've earned it.
I realize that being a fanbase that feels like Charlie Brown while the team is Lucy holding the football is the overarching image, but the fans should at least try to believe until the team gives them a reason not to. The team's start has earned them the benefit of the doubt.

i gotta say, i wasn't expecting 4-0. so glad the tom allen era is over. when it comes to picking football and basketball coaches, we have struck out much more than getting a hit. but, i think considering how many we have gone thru, we were bound to finally get a good one.

Cignetti just gives the vibe of a “football coach” who belongs at that level. There’s just something about him. Seems like a great hire.

I was shocked when IU was able to hire Cignetti. I was aware of him and his resume', and assumed anyone of that stature was unobtainium for IU. But it turns out IU was in the middle of a perfect storm for the hire. IU offered Cignetti a ticket to Big Ten football, AKA Big Time football for a career where the clock was ticking with his age. And IU presented a challenge that if he couldn't turn IU around, who can? And if he DOES turn IU around... it's a crowning achievement. And being done on the big stage. Not a big fish in a small pond (lower tier conference). And not another JMU situation. IU is a weak school, in a major conference.

He CLAIMS at his age, this is his last stop. I don't know... He appears to have several more years of coaching in him. And IF he can make IU competitive in football, what school wouldn't want him if they need a coach?

But, horse... cart... and all of that... IU being 4-0 is a pretty big achievement. IU convincingly winning 4 games in a season isn't exactly old hat. Hopefully, the wheels stays on for the season.

I hope he's serious when he states this is his last stop and sticks around. I hope he doesn't get poached. I remember when that baseball coach got poached by I think, Arizona when he turned around a bottom feeder like iu.

Old hat in Bloomington... Played 6 games and now bowl eligible. Nothing new to see here... /S

IU made it another week without losing a game.
Next up: Nebraska. And it's a sellout in Bloomington.

                Strange days indeed...

at 7-0, this has been a most unexpected season. the nebraska thrashing was great to watch and listen to, hopefully, they can dish out some more whup-@$$ on washington!
been while since they were deservedly in the top 15 nationally.

I'm not sure if it's because 7-0, and 7-0 in a dominant fashion, are beyond expectations already, or if it's because Jackson is far from a rookie, has had some starts, and was with a solid program before coming to IU... but I'm not as deflated as I probably should be that Rourke is out for tomorrow.

Rourke has played fantastic so there should be some concern about a key missing piece of the team's success being sidelined.

But I still feel at least OK about tomorrow, even with a different QB at the helm. Hopefully, he can continue what the team has rolling.

IU could realistically move into the top 10 in the next poll. And if that is not enough to make you wonder if we're living in an alternate reality, you can wonder just how close they'll actually be to the Top 5.

the fact we are ranked 13th is a joke and an even bigger joke is being 5 spots behind a notre dame team that lost to northern illinois at home

I find myself working at Mother Bears these days, the big one on the interstate, not the tiny one on campus, and we are getting absolutely hammered home game weekends. The excitement is palpable

9-0 and in the top10 got Michigan up next. They lost to a Washington team we already beat. If iu plays like they have so far, I like our chances.
