Archie? Literally no highs worth talking about over the last four years. Just complete “meh” at best from start to finish....and a lot of disappointments.Leave a comment:

It says a lot about Archie that I dont' expect a final press conference nor would I even care to watch it lolLeave a comment:

But like you said for the Baylor coach, would Oats even leave Alabama for IU? He probably would if we made it worth it financially, but otherwise....
Alabama is great place to be at - huge Southern state school in a mild winter climate. He's got them positioned nicely in the SEC right now. The SEC is in general weaker than the Big 10, so the path to the tournament at Bama is much easier. Plus they will always be in the shadow of the football program, so there's not as much pressure as there is at IU (though we are pretty much being eclipsed by football). Seems like a pretty good gig - he's at a nice place with reasonable expectations and can easily always be in contention in the conference.
Unless we blew it out of the water and offered him a ton of money, why we would he leave Alabama for Indiana? I don't think I would if I were him. Bama seems like a much better place to be than Indiana in today's circumstances. Sure there is the lure of resurrecting a dead IU program, but that hasn't really worked out for everyone who has tried since Knight.
I think you're gonna hear Calbert Cheaney's name brought up as well, and I guess he would be a potential budget get.
Am I crazy for thinking that IU and Sampson should both consdier a reunion? I don't see it happening with so much baggage, but man I'd be all for it obviously.Leave a comment:

Credit to IU for doing what had to be done and not wasting time.
There literally wasn’t a single high point in his tenure. Such a disappointing several years.Leave a comment:

Nate Oats is definitely the most intriguing name ot me right now for IU's coach outside of Brad.Leave a comment:

That’s better than I thought, but I guess you can only have one loss a year lol.
The 13 wins surprised me. I remember the runner up game, but it literally feels like we have been one and done almost every other year. Actually didn’t we win a game in it last year right before the lockdown? I’m too lazy to look it up because that’s how little I care anymore.
t.
That really says all anyone needs to see to understand where the program has fallen to. Yet, there's still fan support. There are still national TV games. There are still merch sales.
I'm not sure how long IU can meander like this though.Leave a comment:

At this point, I’m not going to get excited about anything IU basketball related unless something crazy happens like snagging Stevens (I still think it could workout in Boston though) or some other crazy big name. The next hire will in all likelihood be about as big of a name as Archie was. I’m purely in “believe it when I see it” mode when it comes to this program.
Most IU fans are reasonable at this point. All we want is a team that respectfully competes in the Big 10 every year, contends for some Big 10 championships on a reasonably frequent basis, and goes on a deep NCAA run every now and then. It really shouldn’t be that hard to achieve all of that in theory given everything IU has to offer and the quality of talent in its home state, yet for most of the last 25 years those expectations haven’t come close to being met.Leave a comment:

I'm seeing the comments popping up noting the boos last night for IU... by a predominantly IU crowd. Lots of people angered by them.
While I agree that boos are not necessarily "classy" for the fans... it is what it is. It might be good that the administration got to hear those boos now before it gets worse. It was a pretty good barometer of where the fanbase actually is, in person, besides where the keyboard warriors are.
It is what is going to happen if IU's season next year opens with Archie Miller at the helm, and the results remain the same as the past 4 years.
The boos either stop through IU suddenly being different in year 5. And at this point .500 ball in the B10 would be an improvement, but that's not where year 5 should be, and won't be good enough...
so the other way the boos stop is fan apathy and empty seats. Nobody there to boo, or nobody there that cares enough to boo.
So, we're into negative recruiting territory. Not only due to the record, buy due to the state of the fanbase and Archie's ever hotter seat.
The metric of whether it costs more to keep Archie than navigate his buyout has to officially be on the table today, if it wasn't already.Leave a comment:

Before tonight, IU either ranked 11th or 12th in winning percentage in the BTT.
Wikipedia has them at 12th, but Nebraska is at 5–9 .357 for 10th.
But IU is .371. So I don't know how they ranked above IU. But move them below IU and IU is still 11th in BTT winning percentage.
Thoroughly ahead of Northwestern and Maryland.
Rutgers, before tonight, was 3–5 @ .375... But even though IU is close to that mark, even if this was horseshoes, I think we have to let Rutgers have that position both morally and by the record.
