The Rules of Pacers Digest

Hello everyone,

Whether your are a long standing forum member or whether you have just registered today, it's a good idea to read and review the rules below so that you have a very good idea of what to expect when you come to Pacers Digest.

A quick note to new members: Your posts will not immediately show up when you make them. An administrator has to approve at least your first post before the forum software will later upgrade your account to the status of a fully-registered member. This usually happens within a couple of hours or so after your post(s) is/are approved, so you may need to be a little patient at first.

Why do we do this? So that it's more difficult for spammers (be they human or robot) to post, and so users who are banned cannot immediately re-register and start dousing people with verbal flames.

Below are the rules of Pacers Digest. After you have read them, you will have a very good sense of where we are coming from, what we expect, what we don't want to see, and how we react to things.

Rule #1

Pacers Digest is intended to be a place to discuss basketball without having to deal with the kinds of behaviors or attitudes that distract people from sticking with the discussion of the topics at hand. These unwanted distractions can come in many forms, and admittedly it can sometimes be tricky to pin down each and every kind that can rear its ugly head, but we feel that the following examples and explanations cover at least a good portion of that ground and should at least give people a pretty good idea of the kinds of things we actively discourage:

"Anyone who __________ is a liar / a fool / an idiot / a blind homer / has their head buried in the sand / a blind hater / doesn't know basketball / doesn't watch the games"

"People with intelligence will agree with me when I say that __________"

"Only stupid people think / believe / do ___________"

"I can't wait to hear something from PosterX when he/she sees that **insert a given incident or current event that will have probably upset or disappointed PosterX here**"

"He/she is just delusional"

"This thread is stupid / worthless / embarrassing"

"I'm going to take a moment to point and / laugh at PosterX / GroupOfPeopleY who thought / believed *insert though/belief here*"

"Remember when PosterX said OldCommentY that no longer looks good? "

In general, if a comment goes from purely on topic to something 'ad hominem' (personal jabs, personal shots, attacks, flames, however you want to call it, towards a person, or a group of people, or a given city/state/country of people), those are most likely going to be found intolerable.

We also dissuade passive aggressive behavior. This can be various things, but common examples include statements that are basically meant to imply someone is either stupid or otherwise incapable of holding a rational conversation. This can include (but is not limited to) laughing at someone's conclusions rather than offering an honest rebuttal, asking people what game they were watching, or another common problem is Poster X will say "that player isn't that bad" and then Poster Y will say something akin to "LOL you think that player is good". We're not going to tolerate those kinds of comments out of respect for the community at large and for the sake of trying to just have an honest conversation.

Now, does the above cover absolutely every single kind of distraction that is unwanted? Probably not, but you should by now have a good idea of the general types of things we will be discouraging. The above examples are meant to give you a good feel for / idea of what we're looking for. If something new or different than the above happens to come along and results in the same problem (that being, any other attitude or behavior that ultimately distracts from actually just discussing the topic at hand, or that is otherwise disrespectful to other posters), we can and we will take action to curb this as well, so please don't take this to mean that if you managed to technically avoid saying something exactly like one of the above examples that you are then somehow off the hook.

That all having been said, our goal is to do so in a generally kind and respectful way, and that doesn't mean the moment we see something we don't like that somebody is going to be suspended or banned, either. It just means that at the very least we will probably say something about it, quite possibly snipping out the distracting parts of the post in question while leaving alone the parts that are actually just discussing the topics, and in the event of a repeating or excessive problem, then we will start issuing infractions to try to further discourage further repeat problems, and if it just never seems to improve, then finally suspensions or bans will come into play. We would prefer it never went that far, and most of the time for most of our posters, it won't ever have to.

A slip up every once and a while is pretty normal, but, again, when it becomes repetitive or excessive, something will be done. Something occasional is probably going to be let go (within reason), but when it starts to become habitual or otherwise a pattern, odds are very good that we will step in.

There's always a small minority that like to push people's buttons and/or test their own boundaries with regards to the administrators, and in the case of someone acting like that, please be aware that this is not a court of law, but a private website run by people who are simply trying to do the right thing as they see it. If we feel that you are a special case that needs to be dealt with in an exceptional way because your behavior isn't explicitly mirroring one of our above examples of what we generally discourage, we can and we will take atypical action to prevent this from continuing if you are not cooperative with us.

Also please be aware that you will not be given a pass simply by claiming that you were 'only joking,' because quite honestly, when someone really is just joking, for one thing most people tend to pick up on the joke, including the person or group that is the target of the joke, and for another thing, in the event where an honest joke gets taken seriously and it upsets or angers someone, the person who is truly 'only joking' will quite commonly go out of his / her way to apologize and will try to mend fences. People who are dishonest about their statements being 'jokes' do not do so, and in turn that becomes a clear sign of what is really going on. It's nothing new.

In any case, quite frankly, the overall quality and health of the entire forum's community is more important than any one troublesome user will ever be, regardless of exactly how a problem is exhibiting itself, and if it comes down to us having to make a choice between you versus the greater health and happiness of the entire community, the community of this forum will win every time.

Lastly, there are also some posters, who are generally great contributors and do not otherwise cause any problems, who sometimes feel it's their place to provoke or to otherwise 'mess with' that small minority of people described in the last paragraph, and while we possibly might understand why you might feel you WANT to do something like that, the truth is we can't actually tolerate that kind of behavior from you any more than we can tolerate the behavior from them. So if we feel that you are trying to provoke those other posters into doing or saying something that will get themselves into trouble, then we will start to view you as a problem as well, because of the same reason as before: The overall health of the forum comes first, and trying to stir the pot with someone like that doesn't help, it just makes it worse. Some will simply disagree with this philosophy, but if so, then so be it because ultimately we have to do what we think is best so long as it's up to us.

If you see a problem that we haven't addressed, the best and most appropriate course for a forum member to take here is to look over to the left of the post in question. See underneath that poster's name, avatar, and other info, down where there's a little triangle with an exclamation point (!) in it? Click that. That allows you to report the post to the admins so we can definitely notice it and give it a look to see what we feel we should do about it. Beyond that, obviously it's human nature sometimes to want to speak up to the poster in question who has bothered you, but we would ask that you try to refrain from doing so because quite often what happens is two or more posters all start going back and forth about the original offending post, and suddenly the entire thread is off topic or otherwise derailed. So while the urge to police it yourself is understandable, it's best to just report it to us and let us handle it. Thank you!

All of the above is going to be subject to a case by case basis, but generally and broadly speaking, this should give everyone a pretty good idea of how things will typically / most often be handled.

Rule #2

If the actions of an administrator inspire you to make a comment, criticism, or express a concern about it, there is a wrong place and a couple of right places to do so.

The wrong place is to do so in the original thread in which the administrator took action. For example, if a post gets an infraction, or a post gets deleted, or a comment within a larger post gets clipped out, in a thread discussing Paul George, the wrong thing to do is to distract from the discussion of Paul George by adding your off topic thoughts on what the administrator did.

The right places to do so are:

A) Start a thread about the specific incident you want to talk about on the Feedback board. This way you are able to express yourself in an area that doesn't throw another thread off topic, and this way others can add their two cents as well if they wish, and additionally if there's something that needs to be said by the administrators, that is where they will respond to it.

B) Send a private message to the administrators, and they can respond to you that way.

If this is done the wrong way, those comments will be deleted, and if it's a repeating problem then it may also receive an infraction as well.

Rule #3

If a poster is bothering you, and an administrator has not or will not deal with that poster to the extent that you would prefer, you have a powerful tool at your disposal, one that has recently been upgraded and is now better than ever: The ability to ignore a user.

When you ignore a user, you will unfortunately still see some hints of their existence (nothing we can do about that), however, it does the following key things:

A) Any post they make will be completely invisible as you scroll through a thread.

B) The new addition to this feature: If someone QUOTES a user you are ignoring, you do not have to read who it was, or what that poster said, unless you go out of your way to click on a link to find out who it is and what they said.

To utilize this feature, from any page on Pacers Digest, scroll to the top of the page, look to the top right where it says 'Settings' and click that. From the settings page, look to the left side of the page where it says 'My Settings', and look down from there until you see 'Edit Ignore List' and click that. From here, it will say 'Add a Member to Your List...' Beneath that, click in the text box to the right of 'User Name', type in or copy & paste the username of the poster you are ignoring, and once their name is in the box, look over to the far right and click the 'Okay' button. All done!

Rule #4

Regarding infractions, currently they carry a value of one point each, and that point will expire in 31 days. If at any point a poster is carrying three points at the same time, that poster will be suspended until the oldest of the three points expires.

Rule #5

When you share or paste content or articles from another website, you must include the URL/link back to where you found it, who wrote it, and what website it's from. Said content will be removed if this doesn't happen.

An example:

If I copy and paste an article from the Indianapolis Star website, I would post something like this:

http://www.linktothearticlegoeshere.com/article
Title of the Article
Author's Name
Indianapolis Star

Rule #6

We cannot tolerate illegal videos on Pacers Digest. This means do not share any links to them, do not mention any websites that host them or link to them, do not describe how to find them in any way, and do not ask about them. Posts doing anything of the sort will be removed, the offenders will be contacted privately, and if the problem becomes habitual, you will be suspended, and if it still persists, you will probably be banned.

The legal means of watching or listening to NBA games are NBA League Pass Broadband (for US, or for International; both cost money) and NBA Audio League Pass (which is free). Look for them on NBA.com.

Rule #7

Provocative statements in a signature, or as an avatar, or as the 'tagline' beneath a poster's username (where it says 'Member' or 'Administrator' by default, if it is not altered) are an unwanted distraction that will more than likely be removed on sight. There can be shades of gray to this, but in general this could be something political or religious that is likely going to provoke or upset people, or otherwise something that is mean-spirited at the expense of a poster, a group of people, or a population.

It may or may not go without saying, but this goes for threads and posts as well, particularly when it's not made on the off-topic board (Market Square).

We do make exceptions if we feel the content is both innocuous and unlikely to cause social problems on the forum (such as wishing someone a Merry Christmas or a Happy Easter), and we also also make exceptions if such topics come up with regards to a sports figure (such as the Lance Stephenson situation bringing up discussions of domestic abuse and the law, or when Jason Collins came out as gay and how that lead to some discussion about gay rights).

However, once the discussion seems to be more/mostly about the political issues instead of the sports figure or his specific situation, the thread is usually closed.

Rule #8

We prefer self-restraint and/or modesty when making jokes or off topic comments in a sports discussion thread. They can be fun, but sometimes they derail or distract from a topic, and we don't want to see that happen. If we feel it is a problem, we will either delete or move those posts from the thread.

Rule #9

Generally speaking, we try to be a "PG-13" rated board, and we don't want to see sexual content or similarly suggestive content. Vulgarity is a more muddled issue, though again we prefer things to lean more towards "PG-13" than "R". If we feel things have gone too far, we will step in.

Rule #10

We like small signatures, not big signatures. The bigger the signature, the more likely it is an annoying or distracting signature.

Rule #11

Do not advertise anything without talking about it with the administrators first. This includes advertising with your signature, with your avatar, through private messaging, and/or by making a thread or post.

  • 2019 Indy 500

We should have talked about this more the last few weeks. B-ball, I would like to hear your thoughts.

This is always my favorite day of the year. I wait all year for it. I’ve been to every race since 1998 and hope to never stop.

The lack of a leaderboard on the screen for much of the day was terrible and made the race tough to follow in person. IMS has to fix this in 2020.

Congrats to Pagenaud. That was total domination of the month witn the Grand Prix/500 Pole/500 victory.

I love the continued domination of Penske. This is 8 500 victories since he came back in 2001 from his hiatus. Total domination. 18 overall.

What happened to Marco? Seems like he will forever be in the shadow of that 2006 Hornish pass.

Obviously Alonso/McLaren missing out was a big story. Hopefully he hitches to a different engine if he comes back.

The racing was better than the boring model train 2018 500 which featured virtually no exciting passing. Still, there didn’t seem to be enough exciting passing at the top in this race. If it weren’t for the Rossi/Pagenaud finish, this would have been a mostly dull race. I don’t want to go back to the absurd sling shot passing of 12-17, but I do think we need more passing at the top.

Rossi is a true racing superstar.

Carpenter seems like a better qualifier than racer. I can’t think of too many times over the years where he blows you away with an exciting pass.

Have we seen the last of Kanaan and Hélio contending for a 500 victory?

Congrats to Bob Jenkins on his IMS HOF induction. Love listening to him and seems like a total class act.

Glad the weather held off. We’ve gotten fortunate a lot in recent years. The last time rain impacted the race was 2007. There hasn’t been a drop of rain since reunification in 2008, after multiple rain/cool weather years during the 96-07 split era races. The last 12 races have been 100% dry and almost all warm to hot.

I sat at the north end of the straightaway right out of 4 in open grandstands (some of my favorite seats by the way). There were multiple empty pockets of seats in the north shute and third turn. Sad to see that. I don’t know if some held back because of the weather or what. I can’t imagine hanging back because of the weather. You go no matter what and play the cards you are dealt. I’ve gone since 1998 and have never had to go back for a Monday run.

It was almost eerie how easy it was to drive into the track via Crawfordsville Rd at 10:30 AM. Hardly any traffic and got super close parking in a yard.

I hate that Snakepit stage that blares bass and smoke throughout the race. That’s fine for carb day and even raceday buildup, but it should stop during the race. Looks like a Tacky NASCRAP gimmick during the race. Shouldn’t be happening during the 500 itself.

The pre-race WIBC show seemed like it was 2 minutes of talk and 10 minutes of commercials, rinse/lather/repeat. I understand the importance of commercials, but yikes that was excessive. The post race show was too much Greg Rakestraw and not enough Donald Davidson. I don’t recall a single call in question for Davidson. I Iove the call ins because people point out stuff that you might not have caught during the race.

I liked NBC’s promotion of the event. Not sure if the raceday coverage was really any better though.

Where else can you see Sabonis, Batman, Jason Bourne and Mario Andretti in the same place?

The car had major problems from the start of the race. Too bad too, because that car was a BEAUTY. So much so that I bought a diecast of it.

Walk up crowds are a thing, and it DID rain at the track on Race Day.... sprinkles at 5AM. Got a nice lightning show too

It would be nice if the weather forecasters would get their stuff straight for Race Day... when 2 of the last 3 years, some yahoo has been reading the hour by hour NWS forecast and saying that we're gonna get this thing in on Sunday(ahem....), that doesn't reflect well on them.

That, or 100,000+ people buying ponchos on Saturday caused a vortex to keep the rains away.

I've spent the last three years in the Turn 3 infield watching the race, and I've honestly never noticed the Snakepit enough to annoy me. I'm still no fan (mostly because if I went in there, I would probably die), but if a few of those fans start to watch the race and become race fans in future years, it's worth it.

Getting crushed by autograph hounds and beaten with Batman movie posters on the Indy 500 Red Carpet was much more annoying anyway.

I liked NBC’s promotion of the event. Not sure if the raceday coverage was really any better though.
It was better... even if NBC didn't show the ENTIRE flyover (BEST. FLYOVER. EVER). Just having two driver analysts with working pulses made things better, not to mention the rest of the coverage they did.

Obviously Alonso/McLaren missing out was a big story. Hopefully he hitches to a different engine if he comes back.
The engine had nothing to do with Alonso not making the show. It was all on McLaren incompetence (it's so astounding how incompetent they were that it almost borders on internal sabotage if you ask me). Partnering with Carlin was a bad idea. They should have paid Ed Carpenter's price to partner with them (and apparently Ed's fee was to make them go away and stop botering him. McLaren should have accepted whatever fee that was. ECR probably would have been set for several years at that point).

I was a little concerned that the package wasn't tweaked enough this year to really make much difference from the 2018 race. I'm still not convinced it actually was, but thanks to Rossi being at the front part of the field, he made up for it.
Wow... It's no fluke... he REALLY good.
He's going to win another 500 because he's that kind of good. Especially in this modern era where it's fairly unlikely a mechanical issue will sideline him.
And honestly, the 100th running that he won, even though it was a fuel mileage gamble, he raced himself into position to do that. If not for 2 fueling issues in that race, he might've won on outright pace anyway. I might be misremembering, but I seem to recall he also owned the fastest lap that race.

Rossi and Pageneud made the race worth the price of admission.
Kudos to Ferrucci too for some excitement along the way.

I don't think Helio running the Indy one-off, or the Indy two step with the Grand Prix, is enough to truly make him a threat to win. I think it hurts with his familiarity with the other drivers, the cars themselves now, etc.
While I think it's possible he could still win, I think it's more likely he'll have a mistake, a hesitation, a poor pitstop, and ultimately cost himself from being where he was just a few short years ago chasing RHR or Sato to the yard of bricks.

TK, I'm less sure about. While I don't doubt he might've lost a tick on the clock, I'm not sure the Foyt team is capable of putting a car to the front. Especially as the other teams really dial in this iteration of the aerokit. Last year when the aerokit was new for everyone was probably TK's best chance in a Foyt car. I expect they will be behind even more next year with everyone else just jetting on past them in development.

I would've liked to have gotten more followup on Marco's car. Race coverage didn't seem to be going after the story, or maybe they just weren't getting any answers. That car was awesome looking on the track... too bad it just didn't have the steam.

I'm not sure about the leaderboard comments. Where were they missing from? I don't recall missing them for any length on the video screens from our Paddock Penthouse seats.

McClaren was bizarre. Probably a little too confident they could field a one-off team and push it thru. I'm not sure if they hurt Carlin or Carlin hurt them in the end. Losing a day to the backup car being in the paintshop is inexcusable.
I don't even know how that happens... they should've known where the backup car was at all times and proper orange or not, it should've been in their possession for practice.

Kaiser knocking them out, and that scanner traffic was awesome to hear. To me Juncos deserved to be there and McClaren didn't.
I also thought McClaren should've ran the Grand Prix. Just to run the car thru tech, tweak on it for practice and quals, and do real pitstops in anger. Maybe some of the issues would've reared their heads in time to have corrected them since they seemed mostly organizational.

I assume Ed wants to win Indy for himself and didn't want to help a serious contender be more serious. But as said, if they paid the fee, he could've set himself up for future runs. Ed probably had a pretty good idea Danica was good for eyeballs and PR, and no threat to actually win last year. Not sure he'd feel the same about Alonso.

NBC missed the best flyover ever.... Easily the best flyover ever. The most awesome flyover ever. Did they not know that was coming? Someone dropped the ball there. Either they didn't know it was coming, or neglected to cover it anyway.

I didn't like NBC cutting away from the cars starting. I think seeing them roll off the grid is important to setting the scene.
For the most part, I though the commentary was really good. Dramatic and informative. Tirico is a great host as well. I could've done without Danica, but I'm just over her in general. I mean, she didn't do anything wrong and was professional, I just could do without her.

The fact the commentary was better, immediately IMO raised the level of the race from ABC. No wife cams either.
I think the complaints about the number of commercials probably stems from the fact the race was green as long as it was. NBC doesn't know when a yellow is coming and at some point I'm sure the counter says "It's time for commercials". So they happen in green flag running. I also imagine they had them planned so that they could have the last portion of the race commercial free. IIRC, there were no or limited commercials during the red flag. I'm sure they would've loved to have had a crystal ball and knew they could hold off om some green flag commercials and run them during a red flag.

My "Things that make you go hmmmmm".
Did Dale Jr get in trouble while driving the pace car?
The booth cut to Dale and talked to him pacing the field. Dale started talking with his hands, and at one point took both hands off the wheel. Within seconds, the official in the car with him was on the radio, and the NBC feed from the car went black and silent. It didn't look like a technical snafu, and Dale Jr was cutoff mid sentence too, so the segment wasn't over. I'm thinking as soon as Jr took both hands off the wheel, either Indycar said "End it... NOW!" and Dale got a 'reminder' to keep both hands on the wheel... or possibly NBC themselves did it.
Maybe the official in the car getting on his radio was coincidental with the blackout. And I don't know if the official was being proactive or reactive on the radio (whether they called him or he called race control).

But I don't know... but it makes me go "Hmmmmmmm?"

Edit: I think the weather forecast hurt the walkup and last minute ticket buyers.

Next year, the local stations should let the Indy Chamber of Commerce do the weather report...
Nuntius was right for a while. I was wrong for a while. But ultimately I was right and Frank Vogel has been let go.

I should add a shout out to John Menard, who via sponsoring the Penske/Pageneud car, finally got that Indy 500 win he coveted and chased all those years with his Team Menard program.

The irony is kind of funny though. Menard used to obnoxiously mock the amount of foreign drivers in the series back in the day. Then he finally gets an Indy win while sponsoring.......the first French Indy 500 champion since 1920.

I made sure to shop at Menard’s on Memorial Day in tribute to the deserved win. That car looked sharp.

Did he? I don't recall him talking about that. Didn't he put Nelson Piquet in a car (the one NP put into the T4 wall)?

              Yes.

"When I got to seven Brazilians, I quit counting," Menard said. "I wonder if racing fans from Keokuk (Iowa) and Terre Haute (Ind.) want to come and watch Andre I-can't-pronounce-his-name. I think they're more interested in watching Tony Stewart."

I'm glad that this bizarre and obtuse nativist/protectionalist line of thinking is a thing of the past. The Indianapolis 500 has drawn attention from international drivers since day 1 and that's what has helped give it credibility as the greatest race in the entire world for over a century. I of course love seeing an American champion like Ryan Hunter-Reay, but it wouldn't be the Indianapolis 500 if it didn't attract attention from drivers across the globe. Boggles my mind that people like Menard at one time wanted to see it watered down to some American dominated event.

Texas was a thrilling finish in Texas. Another win by Newgarden. He’s having a phenomenal year. Rossi always seems to make it interesting at the top.

Well, that was disappointing he said that. I suppose he could've said worse, but you are exactly correct and what makes Indy so special is it's world-wide appeal and international flavor of drivers competing against America's best open wheel racers.

That article is a trip to read all these years later. Andretti was spot on. Bobby Unser also sounded like the voice of reason with his comments.
Interesting to see how much negativity there was about guaranteeing spots for IRL regulars. You know they learned their lesson and will never even think about that again.... Oh wait... nevermind...
Nuntius was right for a while. I was wrong for a while. But ultimately I was right and Frank Vogel has been let go.

I feel like a lot of people would be fans of this series if they just tuned in to a race like Texas last night. That was great entertainment.

There are so many good drivers in this series right now.

Wish they could add another oval like Chicagoland or Kentucky.

Pagenaud, Penske, Team Penske, Mark Miles, and Doug Boles are visiting the White House today. Thank you Mr. President for drawing attention to this great event and a job well done by Pagenaud and the Penske team.

That was a cool ceremony at the White House. They had the yellow Menard car, the Borg Warner Trophy, Pagenaud, Penske, Mile’s, Boles, team Penske members, and some others there. Very cool. Our President spoke highly of the Indy 500 and the importance of Pagenauds victory. Pagenaud and Penske both seemed very appreciative.

Thank you Mr. President for the attention that you are giving to this wonderful event. Between this and the multiple Indy 500 tweets, this President has given the Indy 500 a lot of great publicity in recent weeks. He tweeted about the win on Memorial Day and tweeted about it yesterday. Awesome.

Also, thank you to Pagenaud, Penske, and everyone at IMS for attending and appreciating the importance of the recognition.

That was awesome and is some of the best publicity the Indy 500 has had in a long time. Free publicity too!

I thought Texas was just about perfect. Maybe the track coming in a bit more for the high line in 1-2 would've been nice, but it would've been interesting to see where things shook out if Dixie and Herta were around for the end too.

I still don't know what happened with Sato and that pitstop. I keep wondering if he came in doing the 90MPH limit of the pit exit lane, instead of the 60MPH of the pit lane. But he never got a speeding penalty, just the penalty for hitting the crewman.

It wasn't an ultra-dangerous pack race... but it wasn't a race where cars were quickly and comically falling off the pace and wiggling around due to (much too) quick tire deg.
Hopefully, between this and Indy, it means Pocono will be entertaining too.
The package for street and road courses has seemed solid since day 1, but the speedway package has left a bit to be desired. Of course... a hot Pocono day could reveal just how well the speedway package has been improved versus hidden by weather a bit. Obviously, Texas versus Indy or Pocono packages are different.

I see there's talk of an Indycar/Nascar double-header (spearheaded by NBC). I don't think it's a bad idea per se. Of course it likely needs to happen while NBC has the Nascar portion of the schedule so that hurts some things.
It would open the possibility (in my mind) of an easy return to Michigan, Fontana, Phoenix, even Chicagoland... etc...
There'd be no concerns over having two races within a few weeks, instead it would allow both to exist the same weekend.

It wouldn't have to be an oval but Indycar could use something to try and reignite ticket sales at an oval, as well as balance the schedule while doing it, whereas Nascar could just use a shot in the arm for their own declining oval ticket sales.

Personally, I think I'd make it be a special event and moving target each season. That way going into it, fans know it's special. It's not something they are trying at X track and asking them to get invested in for the foreseeable future while doubters immediately throw cold water on the series very existence before they turn a wheel.
Instead, fans would know it's a one shot deal and the next year the double is on the other side of the country or something.
It would truly be a special event, no time to consider seeing how it goes and "maybe going next year"... and it could be a bit of a traveling circus with some soap opera hype between the two series and drivers. Maybe even a crossover or two.
Nuntius was right for a while. I was wrong for a while. But ultimately I was right and Frank Vogel has been let go.

Just read on IndyStar that Road America had good ratings and that ratings are up on NBC compared to ABC. Great to hear. NBC is doing a good job promoting the series, and the series is very entertaining right now. IndyCar is a very quality product at the moment with a lot of very talented drivers.
