The energy that this election needs to beat Trump just on pure momentum of that fact alone is not going to have 2020 levels of juice. The Trump cult will be energized to vote Trump, so that is a given. How many of the other 50% will hold their nose and vote Trump just to have a GOP win, even if it means Trump as president? How many of the GOP still exist that thinks Trump is a useful idiot to them? ...Versus a dangerous idiot?

There will be no energy of any real size to re-elect Biden as a candidate everyone can get behind as a Democrat or Independent. There will only be how much ever energy can be garnered to vote against Trump.

So with BOTH sides having watered down interest, which side wins??

I'm worried that will be Trump. He'll keep his base energized, he'll win red states that love (and worship) him... and he'll steal enough swing states where too many people will think he can't win, but can't be bothered to actually get out and vote Biden.

At this point I'm sure Trump's plan is to win, and then pardon himself, stalling trials until after the election.

As for GOP challengers... DeSantis has the problem of being the tribute band. As long as 'voters' can 'buy tickets' to see the original band (Trump), why would they be interested in DeSantis?
The interest in Biden getting a second term at his age will just about exactly equal the interest in Biden getting a first term at his age in 2020.

How does the infatuation with certain people/groups and Trump end well?

If he SOMEHOW escapes all of this legal trouble, it will be seen by many as a travesty of justice. If he ends up getting convicted, it'll be seen by some as a travesty of justice.

He's dismantled and reinvented the GOP and energized and empowered the base (or brought to life an entirely different part of the base) like nobody else ever has. It's far from the party of Lincoln now.

There's the real possibility that he wins the presidency and pardons himself... but that doesn't work for Georgia. But he's Trump, he will tell GA to F-off from the White House.

As much as there's plenty of opposition to Trump, Biden is NOT a strong candidate and will not inspire people to vote on his own. Biden's age is clearly a problem. I'm not talking about mental decline, though at his age that does become a real concern, but rather I'm talking energy and enthusiasm.

Can we not have normal, stable candidates any longer?
Nuntius was right for a while. I was wrong for a while. But ultimately I was right and Frank Vogel has been let go.

I don't know why but whenever I try to quote you and you've put a twitter link it in the quote button just tries to take me to twitter instead. I just saw you're where you at post to me but the link was dead. Anyway, I can't start talking politics here. Wouldn't be good for my mental health...or my ban status.
