For real, I had to unfollow him. It's obvious he is siding with Taylor's agent.

It’s obviously a pretext. His ankle is fine. He wants more money.

Apparently the artificial deadline is passing without Taylor being traded.
And also apparently, he remains on the PUP which now means, he missed at least 4 regular season games.

I'm struggling to understand how being on the PUP list is a positive bargaining chip. Unless it's a scam and he's perfectly fine and both he and the Colts know it. But it still cannot possibly help with outside teams. And now that it leaks into the season, I don't see how it helps JT or the Colts.

On second thought, it might seem that Taylor might just want to be in Miami

If the Colts don't want to pay him, they would be stupid accepting anything less than a 1st. You have him under control for the next 3 years.

I have no doubts Taylor will get back to form, he is that good. If anything last season was an outlier.

When the negotiations are between the two sides there MIGHT be some argument that both would want to play that angle versus any negative PR of a 'public' holdout. But now that he's asked for a trade, and been granted permission to seek one, you wouldn't think they'd be playing a game with a fake injury now.
I thought Leonard did the same thing with going on Pup with his injury when he wanted a contract extension in 2021. His agent is the same as JTs as well.

One argument against signing him is whether or not he is a good fit for AR with the read option stuff they are going to run. He certianly is not the best route runner or pass blocker but he would lighten the load off of Richardson.

Irsay seems to have taken on more of a negotiating role so what's happened in the recent past might not be relevant as a predictor of current happenings. RB's are mostly plug and play rather than long term workhorses. Importantly, JT was hurt last year and had a mediocre year. And he's still allegedly injured and not practicing or playing. Importantly, he's a RB in this situation. I seriously doubt there are any plans to make the team revolve around a RB, let alone to want to do it for an injured RB who already has some miles on him.

I think it's perfectly understandable why they would have no interest in opening the checkbook right now. In fact, I bet, truth be told, a trade doesn't really hurt anyone's feelings but next year will be more important anyway. If JT can play this year, and play well, then he might actually have some leverage. But right now, I don't even know if the Colts would care if he would choose to sit out and just save them the money. It's not that important the Colts have a star at RB this season, and gambling that JT isn't on the downside already and counting on him with a new contract in hand is probably not a smart play anyway.

All bets are off if JT appears healthy in Oct and the Colts are 4-4 with an impressive win or two, and a couple of close losses. Maybe at that point, they start wondering if they should be in more of a win now mindset. But that said, if they are 4-4 late in Oct, and JT is not playing, it might be the opposite and confirm they didn't need him nor need to overpay at RB. And if they're 0-8, I imagine they care even less about JT playing in '23.

Why are they being this cheap now I have no clue especially since they gave Hynes 8 mill to be a backup. Taylor is probably worth 12 mill.

Taylor deserves to be paid more than $4 million this year.

    a) find a team that is willing to offer a 16m per year 3 year extension. I assume with a fairly large signing bonus.
    b) that team also has to be willing to meet the Colts' price for a trade
    c) JT has to pass his physical

"c" is where it gets really tricky. And where the truth of JT's actions and character are revealed. He's on the PUP now. So, presumably he is actually injured. If not and he's faking it... But if he's not and this is actually still lingering issues from his offseason surgery that might kill any deal right there. I'm sure his agent is telling teams he's ready to go or it's minor or else this whole thing is a non-starter.

I think JT is a top 3 back, and might even be the top back in the next couple of years. He's worth an extension. But not what he is asking and not with out some sort of proof that he's back to where he was.

My best case is that JT is not traded, comes back and has a great year for us. Then gets a reasonable extension 10-12 a year for 3 years or we can trade him then.. Despite his ***hole of an agent I doubt bridges have been completely burnt. Holding out or sitting out the whole season "injured" really doesn't help him

But I don't know. This whole thing seemed to come out of nowhere and I'm sure there's more behind the scenes that we know.

The problem is that the Colts never even opened negotiations. It seems like they are dead set on wanting him to play for $4 million.

I will say that his agent is a douche. He needs to stay over in the MMA world. I would stay away from any players represented by him the future.
