Am I the only one frustrated with George Hill?!

To begin, I like Hill and value his scoring, and give him great credit for icing the game at the line yesterday. But he has done nothing to sway me from my belief that he is a scoring guard not a point guard.

We didn't discuss it much because of how happy we are with the win, but Hill could have really cost us the game. At least 3-4 crucial possessions in the late 4th quarter were wasted because of Hill's overdribbling. He isn't a bad ballhandler per say, but sometimes he looks a little shaky, and maybe worst of all he is too indecisive. We are talking big time game changing possessions where Hill would fail to make something out of a high screen, and would dump the ball of to Lance/Paul in a terrible situation with 4-5 seconds on the shot clock. They don't show up on the boxscore as turnovers, but to me they are just as bad.

I know Paul has his own ballhanding/turnover issues, but unlike Hill he can pass over his defender to Hibbert/West. Hill really needs to get the ball moving better, because being this deep in the playoffs and throwing away valuable possessions isn't going to cut it most of the time. Anybody else think they would rather see Paul initiate the offense a little more?

I think the foot injury is really bothering him, but he did have the same issue against New York. We could have PG do more, but then he has to expend more energy and I would prefer he catch the ball already in motion to give him more options. It is a really tough spot to be in.

Hill costing us the game? he made one bad decision at the end. Im more worried about Lance because he lets everything gets to his head so easily

Game 2 emphasized how important it is for Hill to score points. At his core, he's a scorer, not a "true point guard", so if he isn't scoring, his weaknesses (setting up the offense, getting assists) are magnified. I was happy with how he played last night because of his scoring. When he does that, he takes the load off everyone else offensively and opens up the floor. When he dribbles in circles AND doesn't score (game 1), well, that's just not good.

Hill is struggling to initiate the offense early in the shot clock. Lance should initiate it and GHill will often get the ball back in a better position to utilize his scoring prowess.

The parts I've bolded have stood out to me. Actually started bringing back bad memories of Travis Best!

Running down the shot-clock is not new to the playoffs. It has happened a good deal this season (and last year, as I remember). And, yes, it is worrisome.

The indecisiveness and movement are related, I believe. The problem is a bit of a "which came first, the chicken or the egg" situation. Does he look indecisive and not move the ball because of his own shortcomings, or is it that many times the other players are not making themselves available to the ball? If we want the ball to move better, then the players have to move better.

I think it is a bit of both, and also agree that he is likely a better 2 guard than a 1.

But, all in all, I'm glad we've got him.

It wasn't one possession, there were at least 3 or 4 possessions that led to awful shots because Hill couldn't got the offense moving. Don't get me wrong, I love the dude's scoring and thing he is a very solid player. But we have got to stop wasting possessions like this.

All 5 guys in the starting lineup can score and defend, sure. But in addition, all five guys can pass the ball and rebound. We've got a really well-rounded team here. And George Hill's a big part of that.

I'm not frustrated with Hill at all. His great play has been a big part of our great postseason.

i don't understand why one of the big guys can't set a screen for the pg's when they're getting pressured bring the ball up the court.

yeah he keeps overdribbling and getting trapped to easily on p&r's

Hill has had at least 9 nagging injuries this year, and I think that count was before the toe issue. One wonders how many of those have actually healed up fully.

Over dribbling has always been an issue at times with Hill, but I don't think he was this bad about it last year when he was generally healthier.

Why does he have to? Can't we just be happy with what we have - an elite team that has a scoring guard playing point guard.
