No, I get it. I'm not saying they can't afford it a hypothetical upgrade while also paying Boozer, just that it doesn't make sense when you have no idea what the structure of your teams is and you will will be in a better situation to understand that a year from now. Rose's health, keeping the "bench mob" together, Asik, why add to question marks when you can let Boozer's contract get smaller in a year you're not competing?

This was my first thought when the article about Lowry being disgruntled came out. It seemed that Houston was more than willing to overpay for Pau this year.

well, in the hypothetical situation where the Bulls have cap space, they'd do it when there's a free agent(s) they really like. Might be this year or not. They may wait, but not because in a year "Boozer's contract is shorter and easier to trade" as you suggested. Boozer is quite clearly overpaid and will keep being overpaid. 15 mil cap is just more valuable than Boozer as a trade asset.

What sense does it make to pay two players 30 million THIS season for the Bulls? They aren't going anywhere without a healthy Rose.

What other 15 and 9 guy are the Bulls eying this season anyway? Why not wait?

i don't really want to start a "who would the Bulls target if they could target anyone" discussion, i gave one name, but doing it in depth seems like a waste of time.

re the first question, there are so many variables.
are you sure Rose isn't coming back.
how much do you like someone this year.
how much do you like someone next year.
how much of an upgrade that someone is, is it the difference between a deep run and no run.
15 mil in owners' bank balance is a variable too. But you make it sound like the main variable, and that's just extremely speculative, especially considering you are talking about a very competitive big market team.

I think you guys are basically saying the same thing.

What about Collison, Hansborough, and our first, which could be parlayed with a third team. Maybe send Collison and our first to Houston for Lowery. Depending on how much the Lakers want to minimize their LT worries. They seem to like former Pacers.
"Your course, your path, is not going to be like mine," West says. "Everybody is not called to be a multimillionaire. Everybody's not called to be the president. Whatever your best work is, you do it. Do it well. … You cease your own greatness when you aspire to be someone else."
