Nothing is really working right now. Did Tyrese have a better game than the previous 2? Yes, for awhile. However he was kind of non existent in the 4th but I'm not sure how much of that was his fault, Orlando's defense or our very odd offensive scheme.
Rebounding was by the numbers improved and we only lost the overall rebounding by 2 but sometimes the numbers don't tell the story. It just felt like whenever there was a rebound we needed we couldn't get it. But it was nice to see both Haliburton and Jackson making some headway in that department.
Is there a single person alive who actually feels confident in our ability to beat the Celtics on Wednesday?

Rick has been here before. We had a slump last year that we got through. He is a marathon runner, an endurer. I expect to see some progress.
I also hope to see some moves made to address our obvious problems. I hoped for that last year but it didn't happen. Siakam addressed some issues, but not the main ones.
I would not be surprised if we reach near 50-50 after ten games."Look, it's up to me to put a team around ... Lance right now." —Kevin Pritchard press conference

Some of my recent posts have been more of a knee jerk reaction. I was probably too annoyed at the time to meaningfully think what was actually annoying me, but let me try:
1. I once said I’d be very comfortable with Nesmith as my starting sf. I was stoked when we resigned him to a team friendly deal. He seems to have regressed spectacularly though. While his shooting has been spotty in the past, it seems like he isn’t a threat at all for opposing teams now. I like his energy but it seems unchecked and he seems foul happy now. I’m all for him embracing the scrappy role, but it still has to be productive.
2. Why aren’t we even giving our lottery picks a meaningful chance? What’s the point in having a high draft pick if we don’t use it. If this is what we’re going to do, why aren’t we just trading the pick for an established player?
3. When will we hold anybody accountable for the lack of rebounding and defense? We’ve asked about it for years and they’ve always given us lip service about its importance, but why isn’t anything meaningful being done?
4. We’re supposed to be deep and talented at the guard positions. This is supposed to be where we are strongest. We have a player who averaged over 10 assists a game last season and another who can fit in any scheme. Why aren’t we playing to these strengths? If we’re unable to due to the way the players are playing, why aren’t we using our depth more?
5. We currently have 2 centers on the roster, an open position, and an injured center who will be out for the season after an Achilles tear. Why have we not addressed this? If either Myles or ijax go down, we will legitimately have one player who can play competently at the center position. We already suck at rebounds, why can’t we find anybody who can just fulfill this one fundamental task?Peck is basically omniscient when it comes to understanding how the minds of Herb Simon and Kevin Pritchard work. I was a fool to ever question him and now feel deep shame for not understanding that this team believes in continuity above talent.👍 2Comment

The dissolution of the Luka Doncic-Rick Carlisle relationship, and what comes next for the MavericksThe Mavericks are 27 games into an effort to clear three seasons' worth of dysfunction, tension and blowups under former coach Rick Carlisle.
"Carlisle's apparent determination to make Smith miserable during their brief time as teammates was appalling to Doncic, several former players and staffers told ESPN. Multiple players were shocked during one early-season team meeting when Carlisle accused Smith of being jealous of Doncic, sources said."
""It wasn't really about how Rick treated Luka," a Mavs player on the 2018-19 team said. "Luka hated how Rick treated other people."
"Early in Doncic's rookie season, the players were in near mutiny in the wake of an especially heated, confrontational team meeting, players and members of that staff said. Carlisle apologized to the team a couple of days later and gave assistant coach Jamahl Mosley, who was popular with the players, increased responsibilities regarding the managing of player and coaching-staff relationships"

Seemingly every player and member of staff at Dallas had a problem with Rick at one point or another. This doesn't really get into Brunson, but Rick benched Brunson in game 7 of their playoff series (played 10 minutes) before they didn't bring him back. How much of this is just normal stuff that is getting exaggerated for a story after a team decided to move on from Rick? Who can say, really? I don't think it's a stretch to think that old man Rick rubs a lot of people the wrong way though.👍 1Comment
