I typically hated sentimental signings and almost never buy into the Pacers P.R. machine of how valuable a player is due to "leadership" but in this case I'm all on board.

This guy I believe is the leader of this team, not in a vocal do as I say kind of way but a watch what I do and follow me type of way and on top of that he is still a legitimate player who is highly skilled.

This is a great signing and my hopes is that this ends his career here and then begins his second career either in the front office or behind the bench with our team.

It's true, able. The forum has been really glitchy with error messages for me for at least a month now.

I posted about the 500 error several weeks ago to report it in the feedback forum. Didn't get any error though when posting there, so am thinking maybe something in this forum's database got corrupted?

As for TJM extention, all things considered 11M a year seems like very a resonable deal. If he can play those 4 years at the level he has already shown he can, it will surely be a good deal for the Pacers. WTG to both sides.

Unless you are a big Mathurin at the 3 person, I feel like this move increases the pressure to trade one of Nembhard/Mathurin in the next year.

cubs, IF Benn steps up in a meaningful way this season (spoiler: I think he will) and is deserving of staying on the roster long term, is there still a realistic path forward to be able to keep both of them considering all of the money being spent this summer? I'm assuming the answer is probably yes, if we also move on from Myles next summer, which I think is probably the right move. Would be curious to hear an updated financial outlook from you.

This is ballpark since we don't know the way T.J.'s contract breaks down. But in Mathurin's free agency year, the Pacers have 9 players under contract and about 58 million to the second apron. The key free agents between now and then are Turner/Jackson/Mathurin. A standard rookie max would start around 42.8 million by then. So yes, they would have just enough to pay Mathurin if they went with a minimum center and no money paid to the other few spots.

In that scenario, we are talking maybe 35-40 million for Walker/Sheppard/Nesmith combined the next year.

But of course if Mathurin is worth the rookie max, the Pacers are probably bona fide contenders.

This guy wasnt even in the rotation to start the year.

                            Good signing though!

Good move by the Pacers....They have a very good young team and therefore it makes sense to spend money on keeping them.
