Trade Deadline Thought: Sell me Sunshiners

OK those of you who have a sunny disposition please try to sell me on why I should be happy if the Pacers who:

    - Have lost 13 of 15
    - Have dropped from 6th in the East to 12th

Choose to end this trade deadline with zero moves, being neither a buyer nor a seller, what's your pitch? What's the logic there?

What is a possible logical reason to just say "Yeah we're good"

Because my issue is this, you can't even tell me this team is shooting for a play in because right now, they're not good enough!

    So let's hear it.

Doing nothing allows this losing streak to continue so we can get a good pick. From the POV of a sunshiner who wants us to tank, I'm 100% fine with doing nothing.

Edit: I would also be ok with a small, peripheral move that doesn't change a lot, provided that it adds a young player or draft capital.

Why does that appeal to you more than moving a couple of the vets for any sort of asset?

I'd definitely prefer to move someone like Theis or Buddy for any sort of asset. Moving a vet for an asset would be preferable. But doing nothing doesn't disrupt the tanking effort so I'm alright with it.

I certainly can’t sell anything. We are a franchise that is largely boring as hell in an otherwise deep and exciting NBA. That’s the sad part - it’s never been more possible to compete as a smaller market team than it is now. Yet we are completely irrelevant. Closing in on a decade without a playoff series win. Sad.

I'm only a half sunshiner, but I'll give it a shot.

I think it just comes down to that they either 1) think Hield and Theis are going to help them next year or 2) didn't find any deals they like and figure their market will be better in the summer.

Otherwise, it's clear they don't think this is that great of a team. They are renting out their remaining cap space for picks, which is what rebuilding teams do.

Well I guess selling off our cap space for 3 second rounders and cutting some dudes isn't nothing...but it is terribly nothing adjacent.

Well we are going to likely have a small % chance of landing Wemby so there is that. If we keep playing like we have been I could see Orlando passing us in the standings.
