I give pacers a solid B. But it all comes down to how good is Halliburton now and how good will he be. That will determine it all in my mind.
I’ve heard conflicting things about him. Not aggressive enough more of a connector.
I want him to be our second best player in two years. And our best player is not currently on the team. -
I'm not devastated by who went out but I would have liked another first rounder or two. The incoming players look good but as we've seen just having good players who don't complement one another isn't getting anyone anywhere.
I really reserve judgement until after the draft.
The ultimate irony seems to be that those pushing for the most change are unhappy that by getting good young prospects we might win more games. I'm always boggled by the idea that good young prospects are supposed to come in and lose.BillS
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
Or throw in a first-round pick and flip it for a max-level point guard...Comment

I'm in between the first and second selection in the poll. I am very happy with our moves, but I wish we could have done a little bit more. Very happy that we were sellers and not buyers. I 100% think that we are in good position to trade up for Jaden Ivey plus more moves and cap space.Comment

Same here. Went with the first though as I'm a glass half full guy.
Hate that we lost Sabonis but the mistake was not in trading him as much as maintaining the pretense that he was nothing more than "first among equals" to the point where he didn't care to be here long term. But since the die was cast, it was a good move, and we got somebody who's shown something in the NBA, even if i find some of the ridiculously rosy forecasts of his potential to be laughable. (And PGs don't lead teams to titles any more than bigs do in this day and age anyway, if that's your line of argument.) But I prefer that over any pick Sabonis could get us, so I'll take it. The Hield contract stinks even more than Myles' does though, and that's saying something.
Nevertheless I feel there's going to be a lot more happening before Opening Day 2022, and this was a great start. I really hope we get to see a lot of Smith, yes he's an UFA after this year but if he shows out I doubt he'll break the bank to retain, likely not much more than the $5m he (or Craig for that matter) would have been due, if at all.
Just really, really hope we don't waste time giving TT minutes when we've got Smith, Goga, and Jackson to blood. Same goes for Myles tbh, and Hield as it pertains to Duarte and Washington.Last edited by SaintLouisan; 02-10-2022, 05:15 PM.Comment

I love it. The biggest trade the Pacers made was one of philosophy. For decades this sort of deadline and roster building approach was resisted. That has finally changed.
Haliburton kicks it into A territory for me. I was expecting some underwhelming expirings and some never never draft picks (ala the houston harden return), but I believe he's a real piece of the future already in place,
Sad to lose Sabonis as he was my favourite Pacer, but its clear there was no market for myles (dragic and a middling first doesn't move the needle for me) and Haliburton was too much to say no to.
Trading away Holiday, Craig, and Lamb is beyond my wildest dream."I’m your favorite player’s favorite player. And it’s not enough for me for him to know that. I want the world to know that." -- Michael BeasleyComment

The great sin was not moving Turner two years ago for a piece to compliment Sabonis.
Having sinned, the trade of Sabonis makes some good sense. I'm not upset about it, I'm upset about two years ago.
This has Rick's fingerprints all over it. He gave this crew a very long, fair shake, to see what everyone could do and how he might make it work. Nothing worked.
Truth be known, Domas showed himself to not really be the clutch player we needed. He is versatile, tough, physical, rebounder, great floor vision. But he seemed to get worse at his mid-range and he never seemed to quite kick in gear for perimeter shots. He had several opportunities to come up clutch at the end of games this year, and instead bricked or turned it over.
I'm a Domas fan. But he didn't look too good this year. Might he have looked good with better partners? Maybe. But that ship sailed.
Honestly, I think Heild might be our best bet for a game finisher since Dipo. We've needed one desperately, and Domas was not it."Look, it's up to me to put a team around ... Lance right now." —Kevin Pritchard press conference

I'm somewhere between like and love but went with love as I've been negative so long I just want to breathe deep in the hopium. We have more moves to make in the offseason but for right this minute I am going to stop referring to KP as "the grifter" for at least a few months and actually enjoy watching the games again instead of just hate-watching them all.Comment
