Pritchard gave Brogdon an extension so in his next press conference he can use that as good PR, "see guys? one of the best players in the league has faith in us and decided to stay with us, this shows that he knows what we are trying to build here, this is Indiana and we eat basketballs for breakfast"

He was so incompetent last off season that he is trying to buy more time.

While I think KP had his hands tied for that move, I don’t think they were when we extended Brogdon’s contract. That is the move that got me off of the KP band wagon.

The good thing about this year is that the East is very deep, so we might not be able to weasel our way to a 36 win seasons like we did some of those years when the East was total trash from like the 5 or 6 seed down.

We need to hit rock bottom for the direction of this franchise to change. Otherwise if we are in the mid to high 30’s in wins, they will just spin about how everything would have been better if not for injuries.

He is a man between a rock and a hard place with his hands tied by forces beyond his control as any Pacers Pres of BBall OPs would be. All he can do is deal with the situation as gracefully as possible, and hope for some good luck to come his way. Considering the situation, I doubt anyone else could do much better. At least he hasn't yet made any screw-ups of epic proportions like his predecessor did.

Edit: Well I guess I've already forgotten about Nate II, but will give his a pass on that one.
Plenty of small market teams are good and have built through the draft. Sure your not going to attract a big free agent here but the last couple of years KP has had no interest in picks, traded VO for Caris without a plan in place for how to replace his upside, and kept pretty much the EXACT same lineup from last year with the "health" excuse. Hell, if we had a bunch of injury prone players that were elite when they played even that would be different. Turbonis has gone on for 4 years. We have a team full of boring, mediocre players in their prime and we still haven't made a change. Right now those players are worth something, but in 1-2 years they won't be. Not everything is his fault but we have not been out of the first round since 2013-2014 and the team has only gotten slowly worse.

Grigson was much more successful than Pritchard even tries to be. I don't like Grigson, but he was saddled with awful decisions from Irsay regarding coaching and some player personnel. Pritchard in theory can hire who he wants, draft who he wants, and trade for who he wants, and has created a much worse team than the Grigson era Colts, with worse contracts, and less reason for optimism. You're right, this isn't a Grigson situation, it's worse.
