If Rick can get Brogdon to accept being more of an off ball player, I think he'd thrive alongside Lance.
I held a similar view until VO returned and asked to be traded. That took me completely by surprise and left the Pacers scrambling to find a new offensive threat. That prospect, Caris LeVert, hasn't panned out very well and I'm still trying to sort out why.

In any case, Lance and Sykes create entirely new GOOD problems for the Pacers. Good because we now have more options than we had before at several positions. The challenge for coach Carlisle is how to put these pieces together in the most effective, winning ways. However, the more players return from covid restrictions/injury, the more challenging things become for the roster.

Only thing about Brogdon/Lance is questionable perimeter defense (i.e. lack of speed) against quick penetrating guards. Given their strength, I think both of these guys are better at SF. Lance, while capable of playing point guard, I think would be the perfect candidate to play point forward, where he'd create all kinds of mismatches offensively and still distribute. Still, those two at G does help take a lot of the ball handling burden off Brogdon (if he's willing to do that).

Additionally, I'd love to see LeVert then become the 6th man (although I can't imagine that going over well). He's very well positioned to be an excellent scorer against second units. But, if not, Lance in second unit with maybe Duarte. That would still give you a solid offensive punch. But that begs another question, who's moving to bench from SF - Duarte or JHo?

Going to be very interesting to see how minutes work whether or not there are other moves pre-deadline. Of course, Lance will likely roller coaster. I fully expect him to have some really cold streaks in play. But he should contribute reasonably regardless of starting/bench status.

A final consideration, I hope Washington continues to get minutes simply due appearing to be a good 3-point threat. We always seem to struggle there so any help is needed.

Then to top it off the Bucks got a better version of Brogdon in Jrue Holiday

Okay, but other teams still COULD offer him something and the Pacers have no guarantee he won't take it. Perhaps they were communicating well enough with him to feel confident on that score. Okay, fine.

But there is still the bucks. The premise behind this criticism of KP is that there was no need to give away picks because Milwaukee wouldn't match the Pacers offer. How could the Pacers be sure of this? Is Milwaukee obligated to reveal their hand? If they are savvy, they wouldn't. I still haven't heard a rock solid case that they totally unnecessarily gave up picks. It seems there are a couple of scenarios out there where they could have woken up the next morning without Brogdan. If so, guaranteeing his sign and trade may have been in fact a very good idea.

The lies you tell, lol. Let a team offer him over a billion dollars to play for them...

well, we won't be in the lottery next year, so it's basically the 2020 pick

Under normal circumstances, Milwaukee would take the full 3 days to decide, and as you could see from the first couple days, anything can happen in just 10 minutes, let alone 3 days. So In order to secure the deal right away and not allow any possibility of falling through, KP paid a little bit more but in my opinion it was totally necessary measure to make sure the deal happens.
Just a couple of things, MIL has 2 days not 3 to match and the 2 day period starts at the end of the summer moratorium. So if MIL didn't want to say one way or the other until July 8th, I think. It doesn't tie any money up officially until the 6th, but not knowing could mess up the Pacer plans.
