Re: Pacers sign big free agent Darren Collison for 2/20
Again I think about KP's review of his team in Portland and the need for mentors to teach the young up-and-comers "how to win." DC may be better than Cory Joseph for that role. Unless Dip got AlJeff to join him in his summer six-pack workouts, I wouldn't be surprised to see us sign one more sage veteran.Originally posted by IrishPacer

Re: Pacers sign big free agent Darren Collison for 2/20
I doubt he's a starter for the same reason Lance won't start. Both are expiring contracts going into next season. Our future point guard will be a long term answer. That could always be Oladipo. If you watched some of his OKC highlights you'll see he handled the PG duties quite well while Russ was on the bench. A Lance/Collison bench backcourt means we're gonna push the ball in the open court. Shooters would be Sabonis, GR3, and maybe someone at backup PF. We don't even know if Sabonis will be a bench player or 3rd stringer. OKC used him as a starter but doesn't mean we will.Comment

The 20th pick was our pick & we traded it for Thad Young...which is my least favorite move Larry ever made. I think I'd be able to name the player with 1 try without Google. Not to mention the player was drafted by Indiana & wore a Pacers cap. I think several fans would be able to name him.Comment

Treading water. It's not a bad move, it's just meh. I don't think Cory Joseph would cost a first rounder, but other than that, not a whole lot of young guys out there to take a chance on. He's like a 5th starter in baseball who eats innings. Won't move the needle much either way. It's fine. Not good, not bad, just fine and unexciting.Comment

Re: Pacers sign big free agent Darren Collison for 2/20
With many teams looking to clear salary cap space for the 2018-2019 season, I am certain that it wouldn't be too hard to move him. There problem is that I have no clue what long term contracts and assets ( if any ) here will get back for the pacers in a trade for monta outer AlJeff.Ash from Army of Darkness: Good...Bad...I'm the guy with the gun.Comment

Re: Pacers sign big free agent Darren Collison for 2/20
To me it's not "forward thinking." I don't see anything remotely close to team building by bringing in this type of player on this type contract to be your starting point guard.
If a signing is not helping the long term growth of the team then it's hurting it.
This signing is clearly not a move to help move this team forward.Comment

I really expected us to sign Joseph, give the Raptors some cap room and land some sort of draft pick for accommodating them. I'm not entirely disappointed with Collison, but was hoping for more.Comment

Remember when we could have gotten 1-2 solid players and a possible Top 3 draft pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by trading away Paul George?Comment

We pay Darren $10 million next season. We pay him $5 million to go away or $10 mil to play the season after that. The second season is partially guaranteed.Comment
