The only thing that I can say that may show a "light at the end of the tunnel" is that DC put up very efficient #s in the last 3 seasons as the Kings Starting PG:

Last 3 seasons:

MPG - 30 mpg
FG% - Above 47.3% averaging 10 FGA per game
3pt% - 37% first Season and 40+% last 2 seasons on 3+ APG
APG - 4.3 assists per game
ToPG - 1.7 to 2.5 turnovers per game
PPG - 13 to 16 ppg over the last 3 seasons
FT% - 80% on 2.5 to 4 FTA per game

Statistically, this is pretty good for a Starting PG playing that many minutes. Sure, that's on a crappy Kings Team....but honestly, we are not that far off now.

Find me a Starting PG that can put up those type of Numbers. He's not a high volume scorer and ( on the surface ) appears to be an efficient/effective one when given the chance.

For those wondering if we are going to re-tool or re-build....the answer is clear. We are re-tooling.

The problem is that this move is a mediocre Re-tooling move AT BEST since it doesn't ( as cdash often posts ) "move the needle".

What's next?

My guess is that the reason we didn't pursue any FAs that could be signed up for up to $22 mil is because we are keeping the Cap Hold to re-sign CJ Miles. It wouldn't surprise me if we end up seeing that CJ Miles is re-signed as our Starting SF or a key rotational Player for the next 4 seasons at $13+ mil a year.

I assume we can let Brooks go to clear his Cap Space....so we'd have about $2.5 mil in Cap Space with CJ's Cap hold?

Eff me.....

People wondered if they were retooling or rebuilding? Did you not hear KP's press conference 1.5 months ago or whenever it was? When was the last time this team rebuilt? It's always a retool & hope to get lucky @ pick 10-16.

This team is destined for the 9th seed.

So with this Joe Young and Monta have to go. I mean they have to go regardless, but now you can at least know that you have the point guard duties covered if you strike out with whatever trades/free agent discussions you're having.

As usual I'll wait til about 1/3 of the season to opine on the team. Last year I thought, like Slick, that the team would win 50+ and changed my mind after about 30 games. Hope this team is better. Time will tell.

I loved DC when he was here. I always thought that he was underrated (most of our PGs tend to be underrated). So, I'm glad to have him back on the team. The contract seems ok as well. 10 million is bench player money under the new CBA.

That said, I don't really see the reasoning behind this move. I thought that the intention was to go young and rebuild around a young core. DC doesn't really fit that but I guess that he can be a good veteran influence to have in the locker room. We really have to find a trade for Monta and Thad, though.

This team is starting to lose me. It really is. I already didnt think their was any hope of competing in the NBA, but then this signing? I just cant do this.

Welcome back DC. He's a solid point guard who will be able to play good basketball off the bench and in spot duty in case of injury. The money isn't bad for a player like him.

Lance is our starting point guard IMO until I see a no brainer move that proves he isn't. Adding DC changes nothing except the fact that we may have gotten lucky enough to dump Monta on someone.

Not a big DC fan. Bad court vision. Mediocre to bad defender.

But he'd be okay coming off the bench. We need a scorer off the bench. He can score. And he can create his own shot. I don't love it, but I don't totally hate it if he's in the second unit.

Wouldn't be surprised if Monta got traded to the Knicks or Lakers. Teams trying to land Derrick Rose or George Hill are gonna come up short and go looking for cheap stop gappers.
