I think you're right that this is a big part of it.
Lance decided to leave the Pacers but Roy and Danny were traded after both gave their best years to the team although I'm hopeful that Roy still has some very good years left in him.
There is obviously a factor in people wanting to be proven right with the attitude that someone dared to disagree with me so I'm going to relish in every failure of the player but that doesn't explain everything. It made me mad with Danny and it does with Roy as well. When it happened to Danny some were pointing it out every single time he was out of the lineup injured like they were celebrating. Now we have people counting the days until Roy comes off the bench. It's just sad really.

It was the same way with Danny in that people couldn't wait to be proven right that his careers was over. How someone can wish failure on either player after what they've done for the Pacers is beyond me.

If I'm not mistaken the same source had Myles Turner as ROY and leading the league in blocks this year. Nothing against Myles but that wasn't a reasonable assumption.
Roy is a starter now and most likely on his next contract which IMO will still be worth more than a lot of his detractors think.
At some point Roy won't start of course but I doubt if that happens next year. What bothers me is how many people on here are watering at the mouth for the day Roy comes off the bench. He's finished in many ways. I did not say he was finished playing in the NBA. At his age, he's finished developing as a player. He's finished getting paid all-star money (the context of the post really)...enough money to buy a Tahoe for each and every basket after his contract runs out. I think he might be finished being a starter in this league after he signs a smaller contract and teams can justify planting him on the bench. He's also finished as a Pacer. He will be around the league for awhile I'm sure just because he's 7'2" with long arms. But he is effectively finished in terms of having much impact on today's game.

As for Roy nobody is saying he's a bad player or should be in the D league. He might be almost as valuable as Ian who is borderline starting quality.

The guy with all the potential has seen his minutes and scoring go down for the past 2 years. What's his potential for next year 3.5 ppg on a minimum contract? I have little doubt as to who will be finished first.

I will say this salary dump moves almost always are done for a declining player. It's either that or the player ran into legal problems or coaching/management problems.

Still not Escalade territory, but it'll get you a pretty nice Tahoe.
