    NBA Random Thoughts 2008-2009

Season is almost upon us and I am getting the hankering for some random thoughts.

Thought one - My knicks are in trouble and the season hasn't started

Thought two - Is Greg Oden ready to play for the full season and how will he fit into the very young Blazers team

More will come. Add your own thoughts through the season.

That would be a site to see. I haven't been able to catch any knicks games yet, in fact no NBA preseason games but that will change once the season starts.

You know what makes me mad.

The NBA gets no respect from the other professional sports leagues.

The Super bowl is now in February - which moves the NBA Allstar game to almost late February.

But what really makes me mad is MLB - baseball has moved their World Series back to the point now it interfers with the NBA's opening week. And then baseball wonders why it is raining and cold at the end of October.

Seems like the NBA always has to work their schedule around the NFL and MLB - I don't like it. And this year, there is no talk about the season opening tonight because of the World Series. I hope it rains and snows in Phildelphia for the next week and they never get to play game 5.

Yes I know the NFL is king - but MLB is only marginally more popular than the NBA

I fully agree and being from Canada all I hear about here is the NHL which takes over all of the sports channels and newspapers. I havent heard anything about this being the opening night for the NBA yet. it is getting to be a pain in the butt.

So when NHL playoffs start up you can forget about NBA on the sports channels. I hate hockey.

Oden vs Bynum on opening night - not bad. Speaking of the Blazers, I hope Jerryd Bayless is a bust, and I know I'm not the only one.

I'm curious to see what happens in Motown over the course of the season. They made practically no changes (btw, where has Kstat gone to?), and I expect there will be a mid-season trade or two involving them this season.

If you really think about it, we made quite a few rotation changes (Amir Johnson starting, Rodney Stuckey becoming a major part of the offense), as well as a system change.

Personnel wise we didn't change, but the team should look very different from last year. A lot more youth in the rotation, and we play a different style.

Only way I see a major change is if a team dangles a malcontent star in exchange for Sheed's expiring deal. I don't think we're going to be sellers.

                    I said malcontent star....

I doubt Zach Randolph's defense would ever be welcomed here.

No one in their right mind goes up against the championship games of a series. The NFL didn't have a Sunday night game because of the World Series.

The NBA has a game practically every night so how is that working around the NFL?
