Kahn just has the balls to say what everyone should think about the NBA draft process.

The Tim Duncan lotto pretty much confirmed the draft isn't rigged. They shipped him to San Antonio, when Boston had a chance at the number 1 and had tanked all year just to get him. If it was "rigged" Timmy would have been a Celtic.

The NBA isn't stupid enough to rig the lottery every year. But, if it is rigged, they've been ballsier of late.

Yeah, the NBA is just desperate to get Kyrie Irving to Cleveland. Give me a break.

I just think there is a better way to do it than with a suspect process.

There are ways to make sure the team in most need gets the #1 pick without tanking in a single year being a viable way to ensure position.

Or throw in a first-round pick and flip it for a max-level point guard...

Teams have representatives in the back (typically Morway when the pacers were in the lottery) when the balls are drawn. Are you guys implying that the entire NBA is in on this giant conspiracy as well?

No, but I'm sure they don't mind helping Cleveland "reload" in the wake of LeBron leaving town.

Why? Cleveland is not a major NBA market. Why would the NBA have any interest in helping them reload?

Plus the pick the Cavs got the number 1 with is the pick they get from the Clippers.

I just can't get behind the idea at all.

It's a "feel good" story, since the majority public opinion is that the Cavs got severely hosed by LeBron.

Washington is not a major NBA market either, but them getting the #1 pick last year in the wake of the owner's passing was also a "feel good" story for the media to run with.

Then why does Kahn seem to believe that is an insufficient deterrent?

Most people feel for Cleveland? I think the majority public opinion is that they thought Lebron handled it poorly, but I don't think anyone blames him for leaving Cleveland.

Because he's the same guy that drafted 3...4? point guards in one draft?

We did have the infamous "Derrick Rose to Chicago" thing a few years ago.

Was it rigged? Who knows. But it sure does seem like it.
It isn't like there was an envelope in the lotto basket that had a bent corner, or had been put in a freezer so it was cold to the touch.

                            On the other hand -
Chicago raised MVP Rose goes 1st overall to who? Chicago.
Akron raised perennial all-star James goes 1st overall to who? Cleveland.

EDIT: Oops. I now see Sandman beat me too it.
