There is zero harm to the NBA product unless they start making players play dressed as the kool aid man, ronald mcdonald, or the burger king. I'm surprised it hasn't been done already.
I'd pay good money to see grown men playing basketball dressed like the Kool-Aid man, wouldn't you?

I don't mind if they want to do it to the jerseys the players wear on court.. but I absolutely WILL NOT buy nor wear and give corporate sponsors free advertisement and be basically their walking billboard... nope aint happening..

    Lets be honest:

If they put ads ALL over the Flo Jo you all would just ejaculate immediately and then go down and buy 19 of them.

If I was PS&E and read this forum I would do everything in my power to bring the Flo Jo back, just because I know every single person from this forum would buy every player in every color. Oh, and I would sign Magnum Rolle to a lifetime contract. All about the $$$$$$.

And replace Larry with PD. Can't lose there. Either every member ends up arguing to the death about putting a tampon ad in the locker room or we move to Seattle because the team is consistently in the bottom 3 of the Eastern Conference, causing PD to fold.

As vehement as people are about NOT buying jerseys with ads, I think a hit would be short term and as soon as the on-court look with the ads became the norm people would be buying jerseys again.

We aren't so completely different from soccer fans, and the ads on their shirts are so ubiquitous that you can't tell what team it is without seeing the comparatively tiny club logo in the upper corner.

It would have to be the Fruit of the Looms guys, then you'd have a team

NBA teams can apparently add jersey ads mid-season

The Trail Blazers released new uniforms, which are pretty similar to their old uniforms. My only thought on the changes: The “ripcity” logo on the waistband looks out of place.

But Portland’s write-up included an interesting detail.

    Casey Holdahl of blazers.com:

The goal is to have a jersey sponsor in place before the start of the 2017-18 season, though it is also possible a logo will be added mid-season, or not at all in the event that a suitable partner takes longer to find.

Just because your favorite team begins the season without a jersey ad doesn’t mean you’ll be spared seeing one. Nike can apparently accommodate mid-season additions.

This could have an interesting effect on the salary cap, which is determined by revenue. Just 10 teams have jersey ads, leaving 20 that could go either way. Some will likely be up in the air throughout the season. Though teams could always sell additional advertising at any point, this is a new opportunity for prominent placement. It’s tougher to gauge how much revenue jersey ads will draw, and uncertainty throughout the season will only create less clarity in salary-cap projections.

One solution for those who don't like ads would be to pitch in and buy the space for this very forum.

We need to advertise a manly product like "Trojans". That would raise the team profile!

honestly, 12 mil for a Man U patch seems like a bargain. that's one Al Jefferson a year.

nobody actually cares about this. we just put out a logo of a sunrise over a cornfield that's nothing but some frigging alternating lines and some jamoke got paid 6 figures for it.

Depends what the logo looks like IMO. The Chevy logo on the MU shirt is one of the most hideous things I've ever seen, but the Liverpool Standard Chartered looks okay.

Ads are one thing, but I'm not a fan of jerseys where the ads are bigger than the team text/logos.
