Default All things Lance Stephenson thread for the next year or so

No reason to have a different Lance thread for whatever items come up, so I'm starting this one for various updates, developments, and laughs.

On the last item, this was just tweeted. Lance made ESPN's Top 5 for the worst newcomer for this coming year AND Top 5 for the best.

“People talk about how quiet he [McKey] is, but he’s really been helpful. He gives a lot of insight to players in how to guard certain teams and what their weaknesses are. The whole team listens to him, and it makes my job a lot easier. Having players like him is what pro basketball is all about for me.” —Larry Brown

Thinking about this Lance stuff is a nightmare that will never end.

I am more worried about who the Pacers have.

Proof positive that Lance is extremely polarizing. Apparently that has affected more than just Pacer fans.

This thread should be maintained for least two years, with an option for a third. Five years is too much of a commitment at this time...

Might as well have one thread dedicated to following a playoff team, and one with a former Pacer and two Hoosiers. Horcats bandwagon still has room, hop on while you can

I was in the mall today and saw Lance Stephenson hornets jerseys right next to Larry Johnson throwbacks. No joke.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

    Division Champions 1955, 1956, 1988, 1989, 1990, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008
    Conference Champions 1955, 1956, 1988, 2005

Some people haven't figured out that Lance has more name recognition right now, in some ways, than PG. It may be in large part notoriety, but he's still very high on the radar.

You are going to be really worried when Lance completely dominates our depleted wing and dunks on Hibbert for an And-One.

I seem to recall Lance's contested shots being more circus like and his dunks being more uncontested. Could be wrong though. I often am.

His circus shots were not that common. He is a brash, but talented young player. His game and productivity are real, not luck. He is only 23 and getting better...a lot better compared to a couple years ago.

His skills, confidence and physical strength are going to take him a long way. If he keeps his head and matures, he's going to be a very, very good NBA player. I don't think that's an irrational view...

Seeing Marion choose the Cavs and Lance choose to leave only makes me appreciate West more. His future should be in his hands now, meaning I want to see him stay past this year unless he asks for a trade. West chose the Pacers.
Lance didn't choose to stay here even though the money was close. I don't see why so many want to worship the guy when he clearly didn't care about the Pacers or you his fans.
I'd love to see Lance try to Dunk on Hibbert though just to see Roy lay him on his a$$.

When has Hibbert ever laid anyone on their a$$?

Yep, Roy Hibbert is clearly not good at blocking shots.

Roy's committed one flagrant foul in his career. I don't remember it, let alone Roy giving anyone a hard foul.

But if Roy goes Mike Dunleavy Jr. on Lance, then I think we'll know something about their relationship.

Never said he wasn't good at blocking shots, but Pacerized seemed to be implying that he wanted to see Hibbert give a wicked Lambeer-like shot to Lance. I don't recall him ever doing much of that.

If Roy wouldn't dish out tough hits to the Heat, then I don't see why he would start with Lance.

Roy put two people on their butt in that video. I guess I missed the part where he was wanting Roy to flagrantly foul Lance.

KStat lives in Charlotte so him seeing a Lance Stephenson jersey is pretty freaking unsurprising. Some you are so silly.

For a guy who apparently has more notoriety than a player who is one of the top 8-10 most recognizable guys in the league the Hornets sure are lacking on the national TV front this year. They have less than the Pacers without Paul George.

Paul George has Nike, Gatorade, Papa John's, he was going to be a starter on USA Basketball.

Lance wears And 1 shoes and is most famous for blowing in a guy's ear. Lance is a side show right now, maybe one day he'll be more, but right now he's a talented side show. He's JR Smith dropping to his knees after making a three in a meaningless regular season game, he's Nick Young turning around and celebrating a 3 as it rims out. Certainly Lance can be more, but he isn't yet. Just because a guy who lives in Charlotte saw Lance Stephenson jersey hanging up at a store doesn't mean a damn thing.

I get that there are some people on here that really, really, really like Lance (unfortunately I only like him which I guess makes me a hater or maybe I just have commitment issues), but let's at least be logical here.

Mr Optimist and Mr Pessimist discuss Lance Stephenson-

Mr. Optimist: I'm sure glad the Pacers got rid of Lance Stephenson

    Mr. Pessimist: Me too!

Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

So you like Lance? A guy who you compare to J.R. Smith? A guy you call a "side show"? A guy you compare to Nick Young celebrating a missed shot? You like this "side show", huh?

J.R. Smith has had better season's than Lance, and both are extremely talented, so I don't think its a horrible comparison, not saying Lance will be J.R., but we can't sit he and act like good Lance has passed good J.R.

The question isn't Smith's talent. It's his character. He's saying that Lance, a guy he supposedly likes, is JR Smith in the sense that Smith drops to his knees after making a meaningless three pointer.

He supposedly likes him even though he describes Lance as a side show...a guy who would celebrate a missed shot. IDK. I cannot understand why his "supporters" like him like that.

He said "Lance is a side show right now". That's not the same thing as saying Lance's antics, which are not that frequent, are a side show. I would not consider the guy who led the team in boards, assists and FG% to be a side show.
