    Default Stuckey from 3!

In Paul George's press conference he mentioned that Rodney Stuckey was working on his 3 point shot. Stuckey has a career 3 point shooting percentage of 28.6 with a single season high of 31.7.

Here are my questions. How much can one player improve in one off season? Since he is 28 years old, has he all ready pretty much reached his potential?

Really depends on his problem, is it a shot form problem that is a simple fix? Can he just physically not get the range down to have a great outside shot? A little bit both? Just depends on what needs fixing as to how much he can improve.

I think if a player like Stuckey focused solely on becoming an average-to-good three-point shooter, he could do it. It might mean basically transforming his offensive game and how he is used. If Jason Kidd, the man born without a jump shot, could become a dangerous catch-and-shoot three-point threat, I'm convinced almost anyone can. I can't speak intelligently about how hard Stuckey works on his game, but if he has the right mindset and is willing to sacrifice his numbers to extend his career as a specialist, I think he could do it.

The only problem with all of that is that the Pacers, having lost Lance and now PG-13, are going to be in need of ball handlers, and if that's the void that the Pacers need him to fill, I have a hard time seeing him developing into a reliable three-point threat this season.

Evan Turner shot better from 3 in his short stint with us so practice makes perfect.

I support stuckey attempting as many threes as possible. Practice makes perfect.

That's my stance on Andre Drummond's free throws.

Guys like Jason Kidd and Kawahi Leonard have shown that players can drastically improve their shooting while in the NBA. If Stuckey works hard and takes GOOD threes (relatively uncontested, in rhythm), I see no reason why he couldn't be at least a threat.

Will he ever be Ray Allen or Steph Curry, no. But can he work, improve and become a guy that warrants a defender to contest the shot and keep the floor spread? I think that is doable.

There is no such thing as a bad stuckey three. Every three he attempts is wide open. No one guards him any closer than 17 feet from the rim.

Yeah, cause he only took like 2 and made 1 of them.

Sounds great. If he becomes a better shooter we can take advantage of that.

Like I said, I wholeheartedly encourage it. Piston fans for 7 seasons have been begging stuckey to take those wide open threes so he can become better at it.

So if Stuckey started making threes, how long would it take the nba to get over their shocked disbelief and start guarding him?

His set shot is both telegraphed and tweeted 5 minutes prior to tipoff so they could pretty much sign a player, fly him to the game, have him in uniform and send him out in time to contest it.

Actually he took 8. 1 vs. Houston, 2 vs. Milwaukee, 1 in the playoffs against Atlanta, 1 vs. Boston (the Bynum debut game), 1 vs. Detroit (Bynum's 2nd game), and 2 vs. Charlotte.

Remember when Marquis Daniels used to spend offseasons trying to improve his 3 and would end up with an even worse percentage? Haha

Same here, if he really put effort on 3 ball, maybe shoot thousands a day with shooting coach, he can easily go for 34 to 37 percent shooter. Also his shooting mechanics not so bad and no fix needed.
Great shooters are generally shoots above 38 percent and Stuckey will never pass that mark.

I am fine with Stuckey trying to improve and take some 3pt shots.

However, I really hope that Vogel tries to play to Stuckey's strengths as opposed to his weaknesses. Stuckey should be attacking and driving to the basket. I'm fine with him taking wide open 3pt shots.....but I really don't want him to wander too far from the basket.
